All these people blaming Chris Turner must be having a laugh. As if the club owner is going to sign off on any deal he doesn't agree with. It's Dave Allens money at the end of the day. He's hardly going to let it happen without some major input from himself.
I'm disappointed as I would have loved to see how many he could end up with this season (for us). However I trust Cook in the transfer market more than any other Town manager I've seen. I would be gobsmacked if he hadn't got someone lined up to come in and do a fantastic job for us.

Exactly this

Err..because if you wait until 11 you wont get the deal through.

You have to travel to the team that wants you for medicals etc. Cardiff is over 3 hours away.

not familiar with deadline day?

I read the club's statement has we have definitely got £1M. Surely (hopefully?) £750k plus add ons would be reported as a 'six figure sum'?

nope...straight from the horse's mouth.

Is it £750k or 1 Mill?

If it's £750k it's a disgrace and I suspect the add-on's, up to 1 Mill, will be dependent on other factors that may not necessarily come to fruition.

Whatever, I'm just sick of Chesterfield becoming an, 'undisclosed transfer club.' Let's have some transparancy for a change. What are they afraid of? It's just selling the fans short. Transfer fees are all part of the game that fans like to discuss.

why go through all the stress of quoting misleading figures and suspecting that lies have been told?.
there is no £750k, and the club says categorically £1m minimum.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

@seantaylorpress: While Chesterfield fans may be alarmed at Doyle fee being reported, I understand add-ons included which should take deal over £1M #spireites

Yep and Cardiff City will not make the Premiership so you can discount that add-on.

yes - which is why I am saying if you wait until 11pm to agree a fee the deal will not be completed in time.

of course it will if you just get a bit of paperwork in intime. Most deals on deadline day happen in the last couple of minutes. build caveats in 'if he fails medical deal is void' if you want, but the deadline is just for the paperwork submittal

There is an extension available for any deal close to being finalised, I don't know the exact ins and outs but 11pm isn't the dead end!

Think you can get extensions if it's just a medical you're waiting on?

Definitely happened before

Sorry Sammy, it should have been 1million cash then add ons, minimum, I feel we've sold short in the region of around 1/4 of a million. And if no major incomings today, not bothered about loanees next week, then CT is once again open to ridicule for his "stronger squad" statement.

I couldn't agree more mate. I was genuinely hoping for £1·5 with a million off the debt and half a million for cooky to use as wages and transfer fee and who knows maybe it is.....but why do I have a horrible feeling it isn't!!!

The dee dahs at work have been taking the pee about how small time we are and anything under a million plus add ons says to me we are!!!!!

I agree with frearsghost undisclosed fees are a cop out....

Less than the fee we received for Kevin Davies in 1997 when we were little little Chesterfield now we've moved and are just little Chesterfield.

I was told it was 400k up front, 450k over 12 months, 15% sell on and more if Cardiff go up during contract?

Yup- poor reporting on the OS (Or propaganda...). Confirmed as a six figure sum rising to a seven figure sum.

If the rumoured 750/850k figure is substantiated, I almost wish I was right with my 'undisclosed' prediction!
For, if true, it must flag us up to all and sundry that we are complete push-overs when it comes to negotiating transfer fees. If I were the board or whoever was in charge of this farce, I wouldn't want anyone to know that we sold the country's top scorer for what amounts to peanuts!
What irks me as much is that we didn't actually need to sell at all. Why not hang on to him to the end of the season in the hope that he can fire us to the Championship, thus probably increasing his value (could it get any lower?), securing increased gate receipts and FL money. How short-sighted are we? This just proves to me that we have no ambition.

Absolutely disgusted.

Totally agree. Definitely the most stupid decision I've witnessed as a CFC supporter. What some on here are ignoring is the fact that WE DIDN'T HAVE TO SELL AT THIS POINT TO ANYONE FOR ANY PRICE !!! Apart from the distinct possibility that ED would have been worth more at the end of the season, has anyone at the club considered the negative impact on the rest of the team, our play - off chances, attendances, and season ticket sales? The amount of income sacrificed by this idiotic move will probably make the laughable transfer fee look like peanuts in a few months time. Absolutely diabolical, pointless, and suicidal decision making.
