I have a horrible feeling this is the thin end of the wedge. If he goes DA will in my opinion not stop there. I have a gut feeling that the squad could be ripped apart in a similar way to N Lee when the FA cup squad was systematically destroyed. Really hope I am wrong. Very worried

The only other saleable assets are Tommy Lee and Tendayi Darikwa.

We're into bite-yer-hands-off territory here aren't we? Obviously we don't know exactly what clauses are in his contract which mean we lose a % of it, but still that's a heck of a lot of money. Short-term Hird is just as good really, and long-term there's high hopes for Raglan so it seems a no brainer; might still get that striker we need after all!

If we had to lose one of our 'assets', Cooper would certainly be the one I'd cash in on over Tendayi, Morsy etc.

Strange idea. You don't get anywhere in a new division by weakening the defence - it's the last thing we should be doing. If Cooper goes we need to replace him immediately, because Hird is not an adequate replacement at L1 level and Raglan isn't ready yet. So after sell-on clauses, a cut for DA and a worse replacement who'll need paying we'll still be struggling financially and with a weaker defence.
Totally barmy idea at any price we can expect to get.

Don't understand all the doom and gloom

Selling Cooper, at the right price, would be good business, some money to debt, some to Cookie for filling the squad out, that is good business practice

People say the club is skint, wrong, all that has been said is that no extra money, compared to last year, for the squad so has to be same as last year, that is good business practice

I'd love him to bang in two dozen next season and be flogged for a couple of million.

I'd also like to be able to fly and have beer come out the kitchen tap.

As pleased as I was with Jimmy last season he isn't going to be attracting cash offers.

Looks like we are about to lose Coop hope that Mr Allen realises that the squad he said can compete will be weakened further if hull are getting 25% and whats left is 50% to pay off debts then theres little left and the extra 500/1000 they want wont be there which then weakens things even further. A replacement for coop will be needed making even less to get us some squad players or a striker . Seems like false economy to me

Paul Cook managed to turn a Sheridan/Wright defence that always let goals in, into a tight defence in the half of season he had with them.
He can do a job with the players (his players) at his disposal now surely. So it ain't so barmy after all.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

I think, like virtually every other team from the premiership down, if another club comes in with an offer which meets the valuation of any player's club and said player is more than interested in the proposed move then that club will normally have no option than to sell. CFC is no different in this respect.

I, personally, like the idea of town producing a conveyor belt system of young players to first team level and then selling them on for good money. I think this could provide a way forward for a lower league club like ours.

There is obviously a price at which we cannot say "no" and we would not want an unhappy player, no matter how good he is, in our changing room. Neither would we want this unhappy player walking away in twelve months time with the fee to be set at a tribunal.

If the money is right and the player wants to go then we will have achieved the best possible result for the club in respect of that particular player.

As far as CB is concerned, whilst I think we will need more cover during the season, I personally would be looking to sign a tall pacy RB first so that Tendayi can move further forward and give us more midfield options. This would give us more height in defence and retain pace as cover along the ground for what could amount to a very slow CB pairing of Evatt & Hird.

If this could be achieved I'd forget Boco and Featherstone as Tendayi could play in any of the five midfield positions but I would like to sign another striker but not on the wages being touted around as what Higdon wants.

So you don't think it was a deliberate ploy

One thing for sure if he does go this MB is gonna get interesting if nothing is re-invested

Also I'm amazed how everyone is so blasé about selling him. I reckon he is essential to us prospering next season

Would you be happy with a CB pair of Hird/Evatt in exxchange for(as he is the name) Higdon?
A new hope.

Leeds received £11 million for McCormack didn't they? Hold em to ransom I say.

35% to hull would be heart breaking. We would have to put the same sell on clause to any buyers.

We should be holding out for a million on Cooper. And maybe it will be leeds if thats his boyhood team and they have just banked £11m
