It's an honest admission that they budgeted wrongly on attendances and flopped trying to organise a concert. It's a statement you see all the time in the Financials - we tried very hard, have made some mistakes but please continue to support us 'cos we are doing our best and the company is in good hands. I'm fine with that as long as lessons are learned. I hope this is the end of blaming PC - he was surely promised a budgetary figure at the time he was starting his planning which has now been retracted.

Key points from TT leaked PM v chairmans statement

1) Budget has had to be trimmed? Check

2)Little or no money for new signings? Check

3)Signings last year effect this years budget? Check

4)Made a lot less from concerts than expected? Check

5) DA wont put any more money into the cub? Check

6) Money from Wembley? not confirmed.

A new hope.

But even the attendance for the concerts was known PRIOR to speaking with the likes of Higdon..

What was the point in speaking with players such as that when we could never afford him, according to that statement..

Mr Allen does seem to be turning more duplicitous by the week.

All the spin about regretting letting go of Davies, and not making that mistake again, definitely signing a 20 goal a season man next year to make sure we will be ok this time round. All hollow promises. Once you betray the trust of the fans there is only one way to go and its not up.

And allowing Turner to talk about 3 or 4 signings (quality ones of course) just a few days ago

That is very true

Only conclusion is he's decided to cut his losses.

Let's hope he not tempted to restructure the club

Quite a few things about this situation don't add up, but it's all been done to death on other threads.

Not a statement that's going to encourage the 'floating voter' but maybe one to galvanise the loyal fans behind the manager and team? A talented manager, with a talented, but small squad fighting against the odds.

Ultimately, it's DA's money, he doesn't have to contribute any more but it does seem strange timing. It would have been better to make this announcement at the same time as a few signings(even if there weren't the ones we were expecting) to say "we've done all we can, that's our lot".

It certainly doesn't do much to alleviate the air of disquiet - perhaps it's a double bluff and the signings will come, or maybe it's setting us up for a player (players) to be sold to allow us to build the squad?

One things for sure, if this is the squad we're going into the new season with, Paul Cook is going to have to show us what he (and the players) are made of.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

How could anyone with any semblance of accounting sense get the attendance figure so horribly wrong?

We budgeted for a 5,000 break even figure for the first season at the ProAct. We managed just short of 7,000 with the feelgood factor of new ground, new optimism, a decent amount of local games the best strike force weve had in years, fast entertaining football and top almost from the word go.

Fast forward 2 years, weve had a shocking relegation season, unrest with the previous manager, the novelty factor of ground etc well and truly worn off, a new man who has come in who has slowly turned things around playing decent-ish football but with no real vim and vigour,a poorer league 2 composition geographically, and an underachieving 8th place finish.

Who in their right mind would budget for a 7,000 break even figure for the 2013-14 season given the above facts?

So what would you suggest?

Should DA just continually throw his own personal wealth at the club whilst others refuse to do there bit?

*** Agree, I personally think a lot has changed in that board meeting last week. The rumours about DA's lack of backing from other board members could have really narked him and he's had enough; having said that he if this is the case then it's wrong to blame the fans (in a round about way) for not hitting 7K average gates last season.
