First time I've been able to make it here. Where's the best place for a pre match beer or 2?
Thanks in advance.

If you like your ale then Coopers Tavern is a must. Turn right as you exit the train station, keep going for a few minutes then turn right and it's there.

I once threw up outside there when I was 17.
I also got very drunk in there last season. I spent about 75 minutes in Burton's bar under the stand drinking with my pals and missed Talbot's goal. It's not a good place for me tbh. I might try and give the booze a miss this year 🙈

Did I just see "Carling" and "good" in the same sentence?

It's a fair way. Mile and a half at least down one straight & dull road. We've always got a taxi.

I have always gone to the Coopers then into town to a Wetherspoons type pub for lunch. Every time (admittedly on a Saturday) an hour before ko the police turn up and park a double decker bus outside and try and persuade fans to leave the pub and board the bus (a bit early for my liking) but it's free and the same bus waits at the ground and drops you off at the railway station after the match.
