With the best will in the world, I can't see Quigley ever getting the nod over Madden to replace Grigg if they are both on the bench. Happy days.

He might get the nod over Grigg, Grigg has a very inconsistent career.
God I hate this league.

I don't see why Madden would ever replace Grigg, as they are not exactly interchangeable. Grigg is an out and out CF who springs into action within 12 yards of the opposition goal, whereas Madden finds spaces (or 'pockets' as he calls them in his interview) outside the box. I see Madden as operating in a similar way to Mandeville, Dobra, Berry or Colclough. That leaves Quigley as the one to step in for Grigg when required.

Rubbish, he'll play as back up like last season, Grigg with Madden behind will be the preferred formation next season!
"Do you think I'm here for your amusement" & good riddance to bad rubbish

You think Quigley springs in to action only within 12 yards of the goal?
The competition until anybody else comes through the door would be between Madden and Quigley to lead the line, not Madden and Grigg.

I expect Grigg & Madden to be on from the start with Quigley & Brown (if he signs) on the bench.
Onwards & Upwards!

You appear to have misread or completely misunderstood my post, as your reply bears no relation to anything I've said. To attempt to clarify - we have two CFs i.e. Quigley and Grigg, whereas Madden is an attacking midfielder like Dobra, Mandeville, Colclough and Berry.

Madden is much more versatile than you think. As things stand he's also our second best CF, by quite a distance.

I see the Stockport local rag journo has told Liam at the DT that Madden is an out and out 'number nine'

Looking at his County goals that’s how he seems to me, although by definition the highlights don’t show his other contributions.

He also goes on to say this:

Quote

"He's always been a striker who's thrived off linking up with others, both as the finisher and the assister. He had featured more and more as a 'ten' for Stockport though; he has wonderful vision, a great eye for a pass, and is willing and able to drop deep and make things happen creatively."

He's clearly a clever player, I expect we'll see him up front on his own at times, then playing behind Grigg in the 10 role at others.

Cooky's interview about him says he can play in a 9 or 10 position.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Does any player take any position from another player in what is now a squad game with 16 players allowed to take part in any game in L2?

Players will be used according to what is deemed appropriate both at the start of games and throughout games with a number of factors involved in the decision making.

We'll be as close to twin strikers as Cookie is ever likely to get, Madden being the perfect no.9/10 for his system. Bring it on.

Very excited about this…I know he’s the wrong side of 30 and inevitably slowing down, but think of Sir Jack, we got several good years out of him. Madden has always been one of those players you love to hate. Always an annoying so and so (so was JL!), and seemed to be the best player on the pitch whenever he played against us…so more than happy for him to be on our side now. We now have someone in addition to Banks who will be happy to shoot from anywhere, as well as create for himself and others….crackin bit of business this.

And as a lot of us already knew Nige,he was missed for more than just his goal scoring in the final games.
