Did they already have contracts for next year or does it mean they could have signed new deals for next year? I don't recall Palmer or Boot already being under contract for 24/5?

If it turns out that some of those have signed new deals, then Palmer is probably the only one on there I disagree with. (Assuming Cook isn't actually on a paid contract and is there more for training numbers).

A little surprised to see all of the younger lads released considering the need for a homegrown player in each matchday squad next season. Does Cook count as homegrown?

As far as I'm aware that's not a requirement, or missed it when I read the EFL squad registration rules (yes i'm cool)

Very low wage and probably his Dad wants to keep an eye on him, stop him dossing around in his bedroom all day playing Xbox 😃

No real surprises there - if Connor Cook isn’t one of the 22 outfield players in the squad limit, I make it 18 players under contract, so likely 4 more coming in

In a recent interview Danny Webb said that just because players are under contract for next season, it doesn't mean they will still be here.
So I will expect more outgoings and incomings during the summer.

has Connor Cook got a bit of potential? I understand he’s Cook’s son but will he give us a bit of something or is he purely making up the numbers?

Boot signed an extension around last Feb, while I read that Palmer said last season that the club gave out the wrong contract length in the announcement when he signed, and have never corrected it.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

If you look at Stockport, they’ve hardly got anyone left from their NL winning squad within 4 transfer windows. I wouldn’t be surprised to see us in a similar position.

One of which is already in the building.

So, 3 to go unless we send some players out on loan or use them in exchange transfer deals.

However, we can still bring in a few U21 players either on loan or permanent.

I'm sure I read/heard something once that he's involved with the scouting and analysis stuff.

They dont necessarily have to go, we can just omit them from having a squad number!

I’m not sure a “homegrown” player is a requirement.

If so, exactly what does “homegrown” mean?

If it’s a player that has come through the juniors of the club it is a little unfair as not all clubs have the same standard of academy.

If it’s a player who has been based and developed in the UK then it can include players recruited from other clubs.

'Home Grown Player' has the meaning set out in Regulation 34.9.

'Home Grown Player' shall mean a Player who irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with:-his current Club; and/ora Club and/or any other football club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales, for a period, continuous or not of three Seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21). For the purposes of this definition of Home Grown Player only, a Season will be deemed to commence for all Clubs on the same date as the date on which the Summer Transfer Window in that Season closes for Clubs in Leagues One and Two, and expire on the date of the final League Match of the Season.

Rule 44.9 Squad List
  • in respect of League One and Two Clubs 22 Players of which a minimum

of 8 must be a Home Grown Player.

All our players qualify for the above even Armando Dobra who was at Ipswich for 5 years before joining us aged 21.
