you mock, but the cost, time and reputational damage are real. And I'd imagine Baslow Hunt have a copper, a judge and a lawyer amongst their ranks who could easily bring a case for the sake of it, just to be awkward....leaving the club with costs and hassle it doesnt need.

experience is a wonderful thing, you will get there one day...

Can you discriminate against an activity? Been cancelled because of what they get fun from rather than the cretins themselves

I’m sure an upstanding organisation like that wouldn’t stoop so low, not when there’ll be loads of other venues gagging for their trade.

To be fair, I hope they have declined the booking on the grounds of safety - of staff, guests and assets. If they have done it on the basis that fox hunting appears ugly, they run the risk of a court appearance for discrimination.... you cant just decide not to have someone because you dont like what they do, what party they support, what job they do, what hobby they pursue....

Imagine if Casa said you cant go in if you are footie fan, there would be outrage. But lets be honest a fair few of those have done stuff that is ugly in the past....

Hypocritical two facedism at its best - and I dont agree with hunting either (or shooting live birds, even though my dog comes from hunting working stock!)

Is the staff safety route the one you went down when you cancelled the hotel booking you mentioned a while ago?

Not sure about the discrimination, Chubby Brown, speakers at universities etc, cancelled all the time due to a clash of values

I think so - but the cost and hassle of defending it is the issue. You can discriminate on beliefs (political and religious) so I'd suspect you can over this...

Imagine the outcry if football cretins (of which there are many) were cancelled....

What if you had taken a booking only to find the group was actually the BNP for example. Would you honour the booking?

You originally said we are then only animals kill just for fun, doubt that is true, now you’re widening the argument to involve having the intelligence not to do so, even then…….?

I’ll suppose you may argue that chimps torture and kill to enhance their social status or grasp territory and cats to hone their instinctive hunting prowess. I suppose you could say about humans.

Not sure the main football message board is a place to discuss such philosophical questions but the original claim that human are the only animals that kill for fun is debatable.

Chimps actively hunt and kill for food. Cats hunt and kill because that's what cats do throughout the world. Domestic cats don't eat what they kill because humans feed them but the instinct to kill is still in thier dna. I don't know an animal that kills for fun other than us. Do you?

Success for free lance journalists aka woke unemployed person with an opinion in robbing the club of vital income.

Having a ball isn’t illegal it’s not for the club so play social judge and juror it has a venue and should be able to take bookings.

If they’d disagreed with him completely they wouldn’t have taken the booking in the first place , would they?

It’s just not going to happen. No business is obliged to host the hunt. No doubt numerous hunts around the country ask about hiring numerous venues and get declined. Stop worrying about summat which isn’t going to happen.

Maybe they realised the potential to lose more money in the long term, than they would gain in the short term, from this booking.

Eventually a sound business decision was taken but someone should never have taken the booking in the first place, as it's resulted in an unnecessary PR issue to deal with.
