Dull Men's Club for a 'hobbies' style change of tone

As a taster (and argaubly with a Watford, or 'down south' theme) a recent post was 'A question which requires no definitive answer as it is a dull subject, but does anyone else de-classify numbers when waiting for a bus? One of my local routes is a good ‘312’ service taking me into Croydon. If someone were to pay me this amount in cash it would be referred to as ‘three hundred and twelve pounds’ but when referring to the bus route it’s referred to as ‘three-one-two’. Why do we do this?'

The sat nav in the car doesnt say road numbers like I would, and interestingly the two cars say things differently and waze says it different to them!

Personally I don't break the numbers down to single figures.
In this case ( where three figures are involved) I would refer to the number as 'three - twelve'
If it's double figures involved ( say 39 to Holme Hall) I'd refer to the number as
'Thirty nine' (its proper title) as opposed to 'three - nine'.
Obviously, single figure bus route numbers are self explanatory.

Bus routes, like road numbers and phone numbers are just identifiers. So, for example, when it comes to road numbers, the A617 is a smaller road off the A61 - which in turn is a smaller road off the A6. It’s much quicker to say the numbers rather than the value.
We wouldn’t announce our phone numbers as 79 millionxxxxx…

I always thought the A617 was referred to as the 'Road to hell'.
Yorkshire is Yorkshire
Never the twain shall meet.

Everton v Palace was dull as dish water, and now spurs v Burnley isn't much better...

Shame that, ITV just missed out on a glorious pair because Tottenham just scored

I've been up since 4 am, so I've been half asleep watching the game, I didn't need a visual sedative 😁.

Apart from one stunning shot for the goal, which was totally out of keeping with the rest of the game, the quality of football in the Spurs match was very poor. The number of shockingly bad passes, lack of ball control, and generally shoddy play from both teams, was incredible. Unlikely as it sounds I think we are capable of performing better than both those teams on that showing. I'm a lot more hopeful of getting a good result v Watford now.
