On a wider issue, though, this leaves us going yet another game without a left footed defender.

Unless the Manager has summat else lined up in the next twenty four(ish) hours, of course.

Genuinely pleased for the hugely likable 'DD' and a little surprised we've got fee, modest as it is, for a lad that's not quite a left back, not quite a winger and not quite a central midfielder.

But hey - I said the same thing about Sam Clucas...

He was good enough to make 14 starts and 5 subs appearances for Blackpool in their play off run in from Jan 17. It's all we can hope for it seems nowadays.

Precisely. League 2 not Championship or League 1. I didn't say he wasn't good enough for League 2 - OK at Blackpool apparently.

Point being he wouldn't be coming here if he was would he? See also Louis Reed, no game time season except one start in elf cup v Leicester U23s.

I was just wondering who all these central midfielders are that everybody seems to think we have. And if we've got them why don't they have any positive effect on either our attack or defence?

Bet Pompey fans'll be impressed to be recruiting a player from the foot of Division 2. Almost as impressed as me watching us develop young players from other teams whilst our own get the odd friendly in Worksop.

Agree.

Roman appears to be saying that Caldwell didn't pick him at Wigan not because of lack of ability but for some other reason. My take is that he wasn't and isn't good enough to get in Wigan's side or Cook wouldn't allow him out - we agree. He wouldn't be here if he had an issue with Caldwell, so that can't be a problem.

we've got a fee for a young, naturally left footed player with potential but I see where youre coming from. Hope his departure opens the door for a replacement that suits our needs better atm.
