I know this is probably not your remit but I'm getting increasing annoyed with the amount of pop ups that come through when I visit the Derbyshire Times website. I'm a bit of a technophobe so not sure if I can turn this off or not. However today I tried to read one of your articles and can preview the first paragraph but not the rest of the story unless I answer a survey! I don't want to answer a survey, I want to read about my club!
As I said, I know this isn't your remit but it could be putting people off reading your work, which I must say is fantastic and I for one appreciate your increased coverage of CFC!

Well said. I try to read things on the DT site from my iPad and the pop-ups are ridiculous, I get so frustrated with them making the site jump up and down, and sometimes crashing it. Not worth looking at it as it is just crazy how it is affected by the pop-ups.

It appears RGS is doing sterling work trying to keep us informed but if folk are of the same mindset as me it's to no avail as I can't be bothered with the adds.
Perhaps if anymore on here are of the same mindset they could indicate thus giving RGS some ammo to fed back to his gaffers so they may reappraise their advertising procedue

The flip side of that is that they are very badly done and as this thread proves people just dont bother with the websites either as they find them annoying. I appreciate that papers need the ads to survive but so do a lot of sites and the way these local paper sites are doing it is just abysmal compared to most sites with ads.
I use an ad blocker but will whitelist some websites if they need the ads to survive and do them in a way that is manageable.
