Cost Cutting

Just a few thoughts
1 Wages and Salaries of non playing staff. - This is the first area to target in terms of reductions. I suspect redundancy costs would be minimal.
2 Wages Budget - I think we will need to introduce a Wage Cap - maximum wage of £2k per week. There will be a number of players in the current squad who are earning more than this currently and I cannot think of one whereby we are getting value for money.
3 Other running costs e.g next season we will not need to open the North stand for the majority of home games.
4 Season ticket pricing to he held at current prices.
5 Reduction in player bonus payments.

Who from the current squad, do you think earn at least 2k per week?

So in this age of austerity you want people to lose their jobs?

Jones, Liddle, herd, Angel, Humphries?
I'd guess the average league 1 player earns between 1700 and 2500. Some out this bracket at both ends. You cap it at 2k max and that's half the squad gone straight away and you'd struggle to attack hardly any decent player.

I know which I would prefer
It is imperative that both SEB and Novak are off the books as soon as possible.

Liddle and Angel probably.
Jones and Humphries not far off.

I know what you are saying but given the severity of the situation we need to get rid of the entire squad and start again in L2 with the new wage structure.

Yeah, I'd guess the average in league 2 is around 700-1200 Top end ish just over 2k. Obviously there may be exceptions with some teams and certain individuals who earn more.

Humphries won't be on more than a grand. We gave him a one year extension as he is a good pro, a good influence in the dressing room and helps with coaching....he was never going to feature much on the pitch and will be paid accordingly!

Ok mate. Let's say he is on £50k that's another £50k of the playing budget wasted. The club is not utilising resources correctly.

I think it's only bus drivers also that I've seen where the weekly wage is mentioned

We more of less know one of them is on 5k p/w , so the other must be on the same or there abouts. We are talking in the region of 10k a week for two players at the wrong end of League 1.
If what I've read regarding Novak breaking a bone in his foot, that might be a blessing in disguise (regards of sending him back and getting him of the wage bill).
Either Simons starts regular or get another loan in- cheaper and more 'hungry'- young prem/high championship reserve/youth team/21's

The players are taking care of that just fine as it is.

I think the fact we have people like Humphries at the club shows why we bleed cash.I cannot see one reason why he is at a club in financial difficulty,he isn't good enough to play so I'm sure being in the dressing room and taking the u21s does not constitute much, you could get a volunteer to do that.If he is on a grand a week it beggers belief.

I am sure I have read on another thread that because the Jan window has gone we can't send Novak back to brum.

Is Humphries paid a salary as the current chairman of the PFA as well?
Also he has to be on a bona fida player contract to continue as the chairman regardless of his actual playing chances

Christ! That's plain crazy if we are stuck with a injured Novak and still paying the wages. I thought injured loan players go back to their parent club for treatment. Surely we can't pay wages to a injured player who isn't ours????

Why wouldn't we? I'd assume on a season long loan that would be standard practice unless agreed otherwise in advance.
