A town fan I know managed to get Tony’s shirt (number 5 yellow Coalite) after an away match with Rotherham (last match of the season) early nighties 1-1 draw, hazy memories, I vaguely remember Andy Morris scoring (possibly) and a smoke bomb got slung on the pitch (definitely) but he sadly lost the shirt. Tony was my favourite centre half during that era, it makes him an even more special player now considering all the personal problems he was trying to deal with, RIP Tony.

One of my favourite players from that era, if memory serves me right scored a cracking free kick in cross street end one game. Met him a couple of times in Woodside. RIP Tony

RIP Tony

I believe it was him who recommended John Howard to us when Tony and he were at the Millers.

I once met a relative of his who said his surname was pronounced "Breen"

RIP excellent defender who bravely spoke about abuse

R.I.P Tony , was only speaking to him at Solihull before our play off game there. Such a sad loss.

He looked after Sylvia at that match, a typical act of kindness.

Absolutely gutted on hearing such sad news. Loved watching him in his time here. I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with him a few times whilst he was at town and he was always approachable and very amiable. A really lovely man. Rest in peace Tony you will be sorely missed by many I'm sure.

RIP Tony, such terrible news.
A superb footballer and a top bloke too.
Will always remember his class as a Centre Half among the best I’ve seen in Blue.
