He has to be given a crack at it. He hasn't managed a national team before (or so I think) so it will be new to him and he has to be allowed time to get a firm understanding of the problems that lie ahead.

I agree that the last two games have been dreadful Andorra being the worst for me. Senegal are a decent side and deserved their win, they were much better than us.

The England managers job requires very thick skin as the fans demand success no matter what. Southgate was the most successful manager we have had in my time and had he won a trophy there would be statues of him all over the place. But there were many who never rated him because for them, success can only be measured with trophies and I get that. For me, England were a force to be reckoned with under him, he elevated the England team to a high standard.

We won't win the World Cup next year but he needs time in the job to stamp his mark. Our current crop of players don't really impress me that much if I am honest but hopefully Tuchel can fire them up over time.

He undoubtedly likes Ollie Banks (he has signed him twice) but its likely he has plans in place that exceed the next 12 months.
