In Topic: England For World Cup ?

He has to be given a crack at it. He hasn't managed a national team before (or so I think) so it will be new to him and he has to be allowed time to get a firm understanding of the problems that lie ahead.
I agree that the last two games have been dreadful Andorra being the worst for me. Senegal are a decent side and deserved their win, they were much better than us.
The England managers job requires very thick skin as the fans demand success no matter what. Southgate was the most successful manager we have had in my time and had he won a trophy there would be statues of him all over the place. But there were many who never rated him because for them, success can only be measured with trophies and I get that. For me, England were a force to be reckoned with under him, he elevated the England team to a high standard.
We won't win the World Cup next year but he needs time in the job to stamp his mark. Our current crop of players don't really impress me that much if I am honest but hopefully Tuchel can fire them up over time. -

It was shocking. I wasted 93 mins that I’ll never get back. -

Cook obviously wasn't too fussed
With all due respect, I am not sure you're in a position to say how Paul Cook feels about it. He has to look at the bigger picture which includes his budget. He undoubtedly likes Ollie Banks (he has signed him twice) but its likely he has plans in place that exceed the next 12 months. Ollie obviously wants to play as long as he can and if the rumours of a 3 year deal are true then Banks has done exactly the right thing and so has Cookie. Cook openly speaks out about how much he liked Quigs and King so "wasn't too fussed" doesn't cut it with me. I think he very much was "fussed" -

You'd hope the visible improvement in Metcalfe during his time here will count in our favour, too?
It was obvious the lad had ability early on but since returning from injury and forcing his way back in the side, he's improved massively and really started to have a positive impact on games and becoming a goal threat, too.
There might be better out there right now, but maybe not with the potential to improve even more during the season.
For me, Metcalfe's signature would be a coup, a top signing. The lad has so much potential and he seemed to enjoy his football here. My fingers are well and truly crossed. -

Just looking at his X feed, it looks like Mike Jones is off the pay roll. He's taking about starting a new chapter. (Sorry if its already been mentioned)
