Think he means markanday to Gillingham. I’ve seen the rumour.
I think it is more likely to be a matter of when not if Markanday is a full time player here. By the sounds of it the club are offering him a pretty decent wage and what's better than being paid a lot of money? Being paid a lot of money to be at a club where you thrived. -

Ask your sons for the stats on Boot. Quite bad according to this article - https://thedeck.news...en-this-summer/
This is what my eldest has sent me:
Boot vs Hemming
Prevented Goals per game: 0.03 / -0.2
Save %: 68% / 56%
Times coming off line per game: 1.6 / 1.6
Long pass accuracy: 57% / 57%
% of passes being short: 69% / 43%
Essentially, Boot was the better shot stopper, while they were very similar in passing and coming off their line.
His view on the article was that some of the stats that were used to judge Boot (clean sheet % and goals against) are impacted by the defence in front of them. A good group of defenders generally leads to fewer goals conceded, which I don’t think you can argue with. He also added that while he finished 17th in save %, he was much higher when you only factored in goalkeepers that played at least 10 games. He was in the top 20% of league 2 keepers, who played at least 10 games, in terms of save %. -

This lad sounds like just what we need but there is no chance we are paying £150k for a keeper in league 2.
I'm not quite sure about him yet. Both my sons have an interest in statistics and haven't sold me on him yet. They told he had prevented goals record of -0.2 per game at Leyton Orient last season and at St Mirren it was -0.4 per game. Apparently, this means he is a poor shot stopper, who concedes more goals than he should, putting him in the bottom 20% of goalkeepers in both League 1 and the Scottish Premiership. He also only saves 56% of shots faced, while Boot averages 68%.
I think we should have Boot as number 1, as he has proven himself as a good quality keeper at this level. Then focus on a number 2, saving any transfer fees for players needed in weaker areas.
