In some ways the gk is the important position in the team, certainly if you have a dodgy keeper, but Boot isn’t dodgy - at least not consistently enough to be a problem. Nowhere near the best we have had but nowhere near the worst. Consequently there are currently more important positions to strengthen.

Is it unpatriotic to say that my interest in England - never very passionate since I grew up - has been zero for years. I didn’t even know they were playing until I heard the result. And then rather than being heartbroken I founded it amusing. However as has been said a meaningless and totally unnecessary friendly when they should be taking a break. Basically they get what they deserve with too much football.

I usally have zero interest in any match not involving town although in north v south I would favour the northern club, but will make an exception here and am really rooting for Southend against the club with the worst fans of recent years. Unfortunately really expect Oldham to do it and we will have to suffer them again next season.

Usual suspects whinging and Walton hasn’t even emerged yet. Regarding transferring him and Brittas. as someone said I’d keep Brittas as he is our good luck charm. How many goals have we scored during a game immediately following one of his pronouncements of doom?
