Agreed and I understand what county cricket is designed to deliver but, the two tier system now doesn't help the smaller counties feed at test2 level as the top tier attracts the best players. Moreover, as much as I don't care for it, the future of county cricket is not red ball but, white ball stuff and that allied to financial pressures, leaves the current county format exposed. There needs to be some realignment - I think I've seen test2, 4 day games, 3 day games, 60 over, 55 over, 50 over, 40 over, 20 over and how hundred games... I admit to never going to the latter as the wife said she liked the look of it and pink ain't my colour... test2 cricket will still survive - but it only seems to do well in England anyway.
