That was terrible
It wasn't good, but I'm baffled by the people who're criticising the team for their laboured side to side stuff, and also the brain-dead messing about over the free kick with seconds remaining. You're criticising the same tactics and style we watch every week and applaud. While it produces wins it's fine, but boy, is it dull when it doesn't.
Senegal were so much more exciting than us it wasn't true. Let's hope it's a pointer to the new manager about what's needed for the football of the future. -

Shiner, keepers bottom right every time. The keeper knew Shiner knew but the outcome was always the same!
I seem to remember him taking a penalty three times in front of the Kop at Saltergate. Every one went in the bottom left corner within an inch of the post, and the 'keeper knew it but never even got close.
I don't think Shinner ever missed a penalty for us. -

Only one team out there playing football. Unfortunately they were playing it in the wrong parts of the pitch. -

Mandeville has to play 'cos he's one of the few who can be constructive against tight-pressing teams, but I'd be very wary about playing him at RB after the first leg. He seemed to be targeted then, and will be again, and it's a bit of a waste playing a right winger who has to help out defensively all the time.
That's my theory - who to play RB I've no idea, which is why three at the back might not be a bad bet with Mandy right wing back. -

Yet Palmers only headed goal this season went straight into roof of the net.
Since when did all scored headers be headed downwards?
Naylors task would have been far easier was he at the far post or the cross come from much nearer the goal line.
Remember Jamie Hewitt’s last minute goal at Old Trafford? Roof of the net.
It's hardly controversial, it's standard coaching and always has been. At the most obvious level it means the 'keeper has further to travel to reach the ball.
Not sure what you're trying to say.
