Indeed. Most of their players are at the same level as ours.
But they are less ponderous.

having pride and wanting to play for their country makes a big difference in the attitude and movement of players on the field

Agree. Very poor. Whilst I think Southgate had run his time, Tuchel wasn’t the man for me.

My prediction: sacked after failing in group stages next year.

He won't need to be sacked as his contract ends.

He has a bit of a history of sudden and decisive decisions. I could see him suddenly saying ‘nope, international football is not for me’ and walking away, possibly even before the World Cup
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

I would be staggered if that happened.

one thing i found very odd last night watching the game was that at 1-2 declan rice suddenly looked to really want to get hold of the game, like the competitive instinct in him really kicked in, he showed a sense of "i don't want to lose this game", now i'm not saying he was running the game, but i liked his intent, 5 minutes later he was hooked... ok i'm not in possession of any medical/fitness issue there may have been but it did strike me as an odd decision that a coaching team could not see and read the body language of their players, after the game keane and wright were saying the team looked lost and maybe the reason henderson was in the squad was for his leadership qualities yet for me england had a player on the pitch who was trying to lead by example and show some intent, anyway there we go.

He has to be given a crack at it. He hasn't managed a national team before (or so I think) so it will be new to him and he has to be allowed time to get a firm understanding of the problems that lie ahead.

I agree that the last two games have been dreadful Andorra being the worst for me. Senegal are a decent side and deserved their win, they were much better than us.

The England managers job requires very thick skin as the fans demand success no matter what. Southgate was the most successful manager we have had in my time and had he won a trophy there would be statues of him all over the place. But there were many who never rated him because for them, success can only be measured with trophies and I get that. For me, England were a force to be reckoned with under him, he elevated the England team to a high standard.

We won't win the World Cup next year but he needs time in the job to stamp his mark. Our current crop of players don't really impress me that much if I am honest but hopefully Tuchel can fire them up over time.

I’d read that the idea behind the Tuchel appointment was that the FA thought we had an outstanding generation of players that Southgate and Carsley had brought through, they just needed a world class coach to push them over the line.

I said on his appointment that Tuchel doesn’t align with the Southgate/Carsley ethos and I stick with that. So If he isn’t going to win one of the next 2 tournaments, which is implied in his remit, then there’s a danger we’ll look back on this as a failed experiment.

The next one only. His contract covers the World Cup only and he'll almost certainly leave whatever happens.

I'm not overly bothered about the last couple of games. If anything showing our issues now is a good thing.

The last couple of games probably didnt tell him more than he already knew. Two games scheduled 2 weeks, which seems strange rather than more or less straight as the season ends, after the end of a long season for players then one of them a dull qualifier that we were always going to win against a side that had no interest in doing anything other than defending so they didnt get humped then a friendly with a host of changes made so nothing like a side that would actually feature in a world cup tournament game. Probably got more from last night about which players probably dont make the grade.

Not sure its really worth a meltdown by folk that we didnt play well in either, we generally havent then still gone on to do well when it matters.

Until it really matters then we haven't. Tuchel has been brought in so the games against Croatia, France, Italy etc of the past we can actually win.
