I’ll forward you what I’ve just had.

Madden transfer listed also but nothing out officially.

I posted on here when Madden's signing was announced that I would reserve judgement, I always support anyone that pulls on the shirt,at the time I questioned wether his attitude would be right for PC and the team.Admittedly my reasoning was based mostly on EFL highlights and on several occasions I thought his behaviour and attitude looked more suited to a Solihull than CFC.
Having seen his sparse outings this season I have not seen anything that would want me to see him at the club next season.IMO.

Yep.
I'm convinced there's an as yet untold story about Madden's non availability for the final games. He was brought in as a straight improvement on Quigley and the plan never kicked in. Replacing him must be in Cook's thoughts.

I don't think you are right about Grigg. His game time must be managed though, to optimise his availability.

Yes Madden have proven to be a expensive bench warmer who's clearly got class but doesn't have the impact that Quigley had (shame Joe left, he'd have gotten 4-6 months starting with Grigg etc injured)

Do you think Cook ever had in his mind a plan to play both at the same time? Paddy as a 10?
A new hope.

I’d have liked to have seen paddy as the ten linking up with Grigg

Some of the passes he’s played forward into the box, given his limited game time have been superb. I think if we had managed to get them both on the pitch at the same time these two would have been on a wavelength L2 defenders couldn’t have coped with and caused some serious damage.

It is what it is though. Not all signings work out. Trust in cookie he rarely gets it wrong
A new hope.

Agreed it was worth a punt, though I remember when we signed him Scunny lot said play him as a 10 and he'll bang them in. Clearly a good player at times but not played enough etc.

I really liked Pepple, put himself about and I think with a full year under cookie he'd be a rate player, but I also think we need an out and out scorer to take the pressure off Grigg.

Madden as a 10 just doesn't work with the way we play. Not mobile enough without the ball, good enough with it in tight spaces or a strong enough passer.

He's a competent enough number 9 but no point having both him and Grigg.

I don’t think he won a single header either playing as the lone striker. Just not suited to it.

People is raw and talented but we need better in the here and now. His work rate and effort was superb. His finishing, composure, abilities stay on his feet etc a bit lacking.

Deffo one for the future. I’d imagine he will get game time at Luton in L1 though, even if it’s from the bench
A new hope.

We would have finished about 10 places lower if that had happened.

I’d say the exact opposite. Top draw 10, good eye for a pass into tight spaces in the box, follows up and plays closer to the 9 than anyone else we have and would link up really well
A new hope.

Perhaps as an occasional Plan B.
Madden is a very good all round footballer, like Danny Rowe. I think though that Cook saw him primarily as a direct replacement for Grigg cos his technical skill set is the same. If he has to show top technique, he can. Unlike Pepple at the moment.

I agree I don’t get the anti madden stance on here. The frustration lies in the injuries. Top notch if fit

From gossip on here, I think he thinks he should have got sent on ahead of Pepple in leg 1. Instead of accepting it and giving Cook a selection problem for leg 2 he had a tantrum. That's my read, might be wrong.

Yeah fair enough but surely a player upset at not coming on is a minor issue for cookie. Shows he's eager if anything!

I seem to remember Cookie saying exactly this in an interview a few months ago. Can't remember exactly when. I'll try to dig it out and link it if I find it. Maybe I hallucinated it.

It was the 4-1 home win against Morecambe when it happened. Last home league game of the season, When we brought Grimes on instead of Madden as the last sub. I wouldn’t say he stormed down the tunnel as someone mentioned, but he did disappear and not come back out until the game had finished. There was nothing in it at the time other than thinking it was a bit odd.

With the amount of time he’s been out injured, a fit Madden would be like a new signing next season. If it hasn’t worked out for any reason it’s a shame but as the boss says ‘that’s football’
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

CFC and Madden weren’t a match for one reason or another. Time for both to move on.
We will have enough over 30s who managed to in the past, or we hope will, stay fit for this next season- without relying on ones who couldn’t and hardly fit in our formations.

I thought we had a player with Madden and very occasionally you saw a glimpse of what he could offer. But needs to be moved on.

Poundland will grigg. He played in the 10 pre-season and it never looked like working.

Or, become that player you thought we had signed.

Injury free next season you never know what might happen.

Out of interest, how many goals in how much game time did Paddy score last season?
