As much as I’d like colclough & Banks to stay…they maybe at risk aswell

Interesting preseason ahead…but be confident cook & kirks have it all planned

Yeah

just listened to webb's interview on rad sheff clips, interesting little bit where he was talking about players out of contract, loan players and then said "players in contract who haven't been playing"... madden comes to mind on that front. perhaps dunkley? (the forgotten man)

I think we played well tonight 76% possession but final ball let us down , it is what it is was a bonus getting into playoffs, especially after Tranmere game , and if it wasn't for all injuries we would have gone up Automatically imo, let's regroup let's see who's released, think we will be stronger next season, that Rochdale striker who scored 2 in national league playoffs could be worth a look at is it Rondon could be wrong on name ? ,good first season back in EFL , COYB

Donancien, Dunkley, Jones, Sheckleford and Madden all in JD gym Thursday. Madden having One on One fitness training with Ben Partridge the others just doing there own thing together. I’m reading from that they are working on getting Madden ready for pre season. Dunkleys a hard one for me as he offers so much when fit, Donancien on a crutch so wasn’t able to do much - the others for me will probsbly be out the door

I really like Madden and I think he’d do well in the hole but we’ve been so unlucky with injuries Grigg and Madden ain’t been fit at the same time much this season.

We build for next season and go on from there

Not sure why we should think Madden will be any fitter this next season?

there was a question about a big summer with so many players out of contract, webb replied by saying something about decision to be made about players out of contract, loan players and then said somthing about players under contract who haven't been playing, that's what i remember.

Not sure why we should think Madden will be any fitter this next season?

Might have been a struggle to adjust to our fitness regime, I can imagine it’s a lot more than Stockports as Cookie prides himself on lads who can last 90 plus minutes

God knows how Fleck can last a full game but if he can ‘eventually’ get there with 90+ minutes over the last 6 - 8 weeks then Madden should hopefully improve strength too.

I mean it wasn’t that long ago when Fleck passed out before a game and was dogged with niggle after niggle but came through. I just don’t think it help Paddy getting injured against Sheff Utd. Let’s get a strong pre season out of him, get him in the hole behind Grigg and build something

Could you imagine how threatening a front 4 of these would be!

Grigg

Dobra. Madden. Markanday

I think Markanday would come back and I do this Cookie would be in for him

love to get markandy here next season. Regarding pre-season, what value games vs the likes of sheff utd? we are near selling out the stadium most home games now, i'd be happy for someone to rationalise it, in my naive head i'd prefer us to put a pre-season programme together that is based purely on our prep for the season ahead football wise.

Just seen Stockport play a cracking high intensity two leg play off v Orient, I’d wager their fitness standards are on par with ours.

Aye, reality is a bitch.

Realism is sound. Entitlement is a bit wanky. Winning is great. Losing isn't the end of the world. Reaching the playoffs was brilliant. Losing in the playoffs disappointing. If pissing and moaning makes you feel better about any of the above, good for you. I just don't think not crying into a pillow tonight 'cos we didn't have two successive promotion seasons makes you a pussy, I suppose. Have a good summer, yeah?

We weren't superb. We were alright but not quite good enough to worry them. No drama & hopefully they lose at Wembley (unless it's Notts).

Another one of those toothless possesion but no end product performances tonight. That's no wins in four against an average Walsall side that's the truth but overall a very succesful season which could have ended better but for an unprecedented injury crisis. i think we'll go up automatically next season.

this season will have given us so many lessons to learn from, cook is a master of solving the puzzle and coming up with the answer, to do it in season one with the hand he got dealt along the way was a tough ask.

Personally I’m glad Dilian left and went to Orient, it’s not worked out for him which is a plus in our favour and he was enjoying it here. I’d be getting onto him like a shot

I’d love Tyrer back as well but that’s just a pipe dream I think

I'm intrigued, do folk from Grassmoor actually go to a gym?

Grigg and madden will have combined age of 70 next season, did you not see the work rate pepple did last night, his finishing quality was lacking but he made himself available for everything , ran into channels to try and get behind held ball up spun and ran at defence, it was the performance of a young man with not many miles on the clock
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART

What a pussy

Sick to death of you and your bollox on here. People have every right to be critical, just as you have every right to be, well, a pussy....

I'd suggest viewers are 'sick to death of your bollox on here'.

Years of spitting spite on the 'Personal' section - as confirmed by a catalogue of mod' sanctions - and now you're migrating it onto the football forum.

With the ultimate irony of someone perennially cowering in anonymity accusing others of being 'pussies' and needing to 'grow a pair' (yeah, casual misogyny clearly cool with you).

In fact threatening to set his supposed spouse on folk instead of accepting offers to discuss posts in person.

Of course people have the right to be critical. I doubt anyone's been more critical than me through the decades (though, again, always prepared to repeat it in public as witnessed by Carson and Co, for example). But that criticism has to be in context otherwise it's merely mindless malevolence.

You're right, I agree, we might've done things differently against Walsall. We might've gone for their throat from the start. We might've been more direct. We might've bombed it forward towards a box loaded with alternative selections.

And we might've been dead and buried at half time by an outfit so obviously set up to defend in numbers and hit on the break.

Which is kinda what happened over the final stages last neet.

This squad wasn't good enough to go up. As I've stated on several occasions over the last few weeks. It lacked pace and energy and incision all over the field. It was a season too far for far too many.

That critical enough for you?

However that's because Cook had to virtually rebuild rather than embroider quality into a group to whom he'd demonstrated laudable loyalty in January. They'd wazzed the National League after Xmas, for crying out loud.

The same Paul Cook who, quite movingly, put aside his obvious pain to declare how proud he is of his club - our club - post match.

Look, mate, I get it - this sorta stuff is your defence mechanism. You too are hurting yet channel it into scorn and name calling. Like a kid in the playground who's been beaten at marbles or summat. But relax. Go and get drunk. Book a holiday and get a tan. Whatever it takes to get over what is, after all, just a stumble on a stepping stone.

Then come back in August and enjoy what I'm convinced will be a genuine promotion push...
