Palace currently doing the same job on City as Walsall did on us

Has possession based football been figured out? Palace has got away with a couple though
Here we go again!

I've watched the highlights now and felt Pepple gave his all and was quite unfortunate with a few decisions as well as slipping in front of goal after really battling his way through - we have no one else who could have done that. He isn't the finished article but the lad does have something.

One thing, though, which stood out for me is how we allowed them to repeat the break down our left in the first minute resulting in Boot saving and conceding a corner. We got away with it both times but they had a scoring chance in the first minute of both games yet we often take half an hour to muster a shot on target. So, is having the personnel to start matches on the front foot in Cook's mind? We have been a 2nd half team this season. We need to be a 90 minute team next season.

Hes not done enough imho to warrant offering a contract I feel there are probably better more mobile forwards out there. He seems to lose composure infront of goal which we've seen on more than one occasion this season.

Don't know about possession but Palaces time wasting has certainly been figured out - 10 minutes

You were complaining about this the season before we won the National League. We then signed better players, played exactly the same and pissed the league. What will you say if we do the same thing next season?

I'll be happy we got promoted.

And I'll still think setting up the same way every week, particularly against sides (like Walsall) against whom our system has been proven ineffective is a bad idea.

Players gave everything yesterday. We were too negative in selection and tactics in both legs. 70th minute subs again when we needed two goals in the second leg of a play off tie!

Wimbledon another defence based team beat County twice as well.

Manchester City were allowed to played in front of the halfway line whereas we tend to play from deeper but, forget the difference in class like we do, they basically played it wide and across the penalty area with very few attempts on goal from any sort of distance.

Teams & managers will watch these type of performances and learn from them as the way to combat possession football so we might see more and more of it. So, Cook & Co will have to build in a strategy for overcoming such tactics going forward.

Unless the police feel it's worth going so far as to ask Sky if they are able to isolate that great big Mic right in front of him?

I know he's a shithouse, but that Simkins in goal for Walsall is a decent keeper.
*Just watched him make a routine save today but thought he was decent when I've seen him- just couldn't bring myself to say it cos he's a shithouse

Now they're losing, I guess he'll have a full bill of health!

To be hoped Goodman suffers a Simkin type injury or two in the second half

One of theirs went down so they had a touchline chat but against all odds, the player that went down was actually injured and went off. Nobody touched him either

Good goal, but jeez I’d pack in supporting CFC if we were served up the style of play that Walsall use. Makes Duncan’s sides look like the Haarlem Globetrotters of football.

It's a tough one cos Walsall seem to be our bogey team, so prob want them out the way.
But just for the shithousery, I'd like The Dons to go up...but we've taken point of them.... so there is the conundrum
