One thing he definitely isn’t is clueless.

Ok hyperbole from me, imho he really struggles when trying to tactically outwit something that supresses town as an attacking force
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Tactically they outsmarted us, I’ve no doubt we’ll be much stronger next season

Bloody hell, the doomsters in full flow......

When we started the season, the vast majority of us said we were nowhere near the strength to make the playoffs.

Stepping back, lets look at what happened.

We were screwed royally by injuries.
Injuries cost us fitness when they returned and we paid the price.

If we hadn't had that injury run, I honestly believe we'd have been auto.
Equally, if we went up (auto or via p/o), I've no doubt we would have been straight back down. The squad needs work. The players who got us up were rewarded with a season in L2, and some have been found wanting - as we suspected.

So, personally for all the above, I'm actually happier that we haven't gone up.

The usual suspects who are/will put the team/player/manager down for not going up successive seasons would have been like pigs in the proverbial giving grief at a higher level.

I implore them to go elsewhere - Stags deserve you.

How funny will it be if they fook it up and we win the league next season and beat them twice along the way.

I'm going to tell you now, that's not going to happen. Playoffs will be the target.

We need 10 new first team players of real quality - it's just not going to happen.

Finally a bit of perspective about the season. We were way off back in March. We somehow got into the play offs and were beaten by the better team over 2 legs. First season back in the league. I think once the dust has settled we will see this as a successful first season back.

There was a time in the season our for, was so poor I was looking at who was beneath us.

GOOOOAAAALLLL
These go to eleven.

So folk who might have been following Chesterfield for years, home and away, you implore them to go elsewhere because they’re disappointed in these last two play off games?
East stand second class citizen.

I always thought this season should be one of consolidation so I am not over disappointed about not having to go down to Wembley and pay out their over-inflated prices for everything.

However, the main thing is that the management take on board what we need to do to be more competitive in this league. I have my thoughts, Cook will have his, but I sincerely hope he has studied how other teams have played against his system with success and he learns from this. Yes, it’s successful when it’s successful but when it doesn’t work it is a hard watch. We really have to change the system during games when it’s not working and have the personnel on the bench to be able to do this. Too often we have changed the personnel but not the system.

Other than that, the play-off final will be interesting. Which team will out defend which? Will either team attack the other? Will any of the teams actually want possession?

I’d say 6 or 7 rather than 10

The little flick from Grigg to Dobs was sublime.

Those 2, Mandy in midfield, fadz annd Naylor are good enough for a serious promotion push.

We have achieved great things in our first season back. Sometimes expectations can be too high, particularly with the shitload of injuries we’ve had. For me it’s been a season where we should have failed big time but Paul Cook has a knack of getting the best out of his players and although they give there all it was a level too much for many of them.
