So here we are.

The eve of our latest play off campaign.

And like fans of Notts, Wimbledon, Walsall and every other Spireite I'm hoping and dreaming of what might be.

But today's events at Orient, or maybe the wayward back pass allowing Sunderland their first win at Cov' in generations last night, confirm what a hostage to sometimes outrageous fortune this time of the season can be.

Or shall we talk about a Calvin Plummer hatrick rendering Stockport finishing twenty summat points above us utterly redundant back in nineteen ninety?

Perhaps the corner-that-never-was dictating we returned from the subsequent final - our first Wembley visit - empty handed?

The point is made.

Either way my attitude hasn't changed since last August - a sniff of the play offs with a couple of games to go an achievement.

An achievement wonderfully surpassed despite challenges that would've crippled lesser clubs. Run by lesser owners. Populated by lesser staff and players.

So let's just enjoy this bonus. Another sold out stadium, another match-day with mates, another day in the sun.

Literally, given the forecast.

If Walsall are the better side over both legs then so be it.

If we're beaten by a better side at the national stadium then, again, so be it.

Because I know - in fact I'm absolutely convinced - it'd merely be a minor delay in Chesterfield FC, under the direction of the Kirks and Cook, returning stronger and better supported to where we were ten years ago.

Come on you mighty blues...

So be it indeed if they are the better side.

But they won't be 🙂

Notts 3 minutes from losing In normal time three from losing in extra time then winning on penalties with a keeper who should have been on from early in the game if the ref had some balls.
Notts? Bring em on.
It's ours.

From an outside perspective with a daughter , son in law and 2 Grandkids there on Sunday , along with many friends ,etc etc ( you know who you are ) COYB .and just as importantly next Friday
Ima relic from the Dec 1976 battle over three games with Walsall, FWIW the game at Walsall (0-0 after extra time ) was my 16th birthday and the first time my Dad bought me a pint .
Do it Tahn then do to Wimbledon at Wembley what seemingly unbeatable Liverpool couldn’t in 88
