As long as the contracts are appearance based then it's a yes from me.

I’m sure Ive read somewhere that you can’t do contracts like that anymore, ie pay as you play, but I might be wrong.

Also, would imagine players of their experience and pedigree would probably see an offer like this as a bit of an insult. If we don’t make them an offer, someone else will I’m sure, so if we want them we’d have to make the deal work for both parties.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Also can't see injury prone players wanting that sort of deal

Bit of a slip of the tongue in Fadz post match RS interview. Now he's playing locally his son can get to see him play hopefully this season or next season. My take is he's already been offered a deal

I would definitely both were class yesterday along with some younger players to learn from them

Fadz has impressed me immensely. His positioning, his aggression & his leadership all absolute second to none in this team. But what has impressed me most, is that when we signed I saw his age and thought he could get exposed with a lack of legs possibly… but not only does his positioning prevent this, but he still moves like he isn’t a day over 30 IMO and has the physical capability to recover and get back. If it was me I’d have offered another year already, he is fantastic.

You can't have a contract based purely on appearances on a matchday but it can be heavily weighted that way.

Surely you just offer a low base salary with a heavy appearance fee or a bonus linked to 10, 20, 25, 30 games etc

I’d expect both would be keen to have a final season pushing promotion having already earned good money from the game.

Offer a year. So long as it isn’t silly money there are far better savings to be had from from other out of contract players not resigning

Absolutely. Can be the absolute minimum salary with £x per appearance which elevates it significantly.

I would, provided they are prepared to wait to sign following the completion of a successful pre-season.

I'm not sure that would be particularly fair if they've proven their fitness this season.

both will need the right partners on the pitch, going back to cook's "legends of the spire" interview, he talked about the 4231 system in terms that the box of 2 CB's and 2 DCMs are there to defend, everyone else attacks, this season we have conceded too many goals, when cook won the league with us back in 2014 we conceded 40 goals in the league, attacking wise we have generally found the net in most games and goals for hasn't been the issue but we have always looked vulnerable, if we can get "the box" as they call it right it will make a big difference. Both have shown what they are about, love fadz leadership and organisation on the pitch, he also seems someone who is just a football enthusiast, a player you'd want on your team and he can play a bit as well (more than a bit), fleck's ability on the ball is of a different level to anything else we have in that position, it all comes down i suppose to balance of the squad.

This.

When CM has either (or both) Banks and Oldaker in there the probability of cleans sheets is reduced. An engine room of Naylor and Fleck with Metcalf and a.n. other challenging would be a big step forrad.

I see from highlights that Fadz should have scored yesterday.

Both players are class acts, so I'm hoping both get a contract for next season.
Neither of them need pace as they are blessed with speed of thought.

After this season, it's a gamble I wouldn't be prepared to take.

For those willing to take the gamble, some considerations;

Will both players be regular starters and if so, how many games do you expect them to play next season?

Are you confident enough to build your central defence and midfield around both players?

Do you think there has been a lack of mobility in the CD & CM pairings this season and will retaining both players address this issue?

As I see it, we need players who can contribute now and grow with us. Both Kyle & John are coming to the end of their careers and there is certainly no longevity in either arrangement.

Fleck for me, but both come with the chance of superb benefits or a injury nightmare
