A few thoughts, if the ground is extended I’m sure the North stand would be first choice to be made bigger as increasing the South stand will block out more sunlight to the pitch so if this happens it’s possible the south stand could be used for away fans so how would fans in the South stand feel about relocating

The North Stand is a mirror image of the South stand. They would be offered the same seat in the North. If not available they'd be offered the same seat in the upper tier.
All assumption of course

Yeh its really strange that its happening...we are on an up in terms of crowds the last couple of years with season ticket sales the best we've seen some of which could be people that got their first taste via the trust scheme and we have folk wanting to make that harder to do and shove our own fans around to give an away team more support. The club have even said how the team have said how much they like having home fans at both ends. I see no sense in changing whats happening at the moment.

The main thrust of my question to Peter was to get his view on whether North Stand Community seats would be made available if demand for them from CFC fans willing to pay full price arose.
I'd too would love to see home fans at both ends and there won't be a problem until the stand is within 500 seats of being sold out. Nobody wants to make it harder.

Peter says 'no'. That's the policy.

It was stated on here that Amy expansion would be a grow tier Notth Stand with boxes across the middle to maximise revenue. That format wouldn’t be used on the South stand because it would impact the amount of sunlight on the pitch. It was the late Nigel Goodlad who posted it if I recall.

Would they build it behind and above the current stand meaning any disruption to using the current stand for matches be minimal?

No idea of its construction mate but I’d imagine not and would still use the current North Stand as much as possible.
Looking at expansions on a much larger scale at both Anfield and the Etihad of behind the goal redevelopment extra tiers seemed to be build over and around the current stands.

Presumably, away fans would be shifted in to the upper north in this scenario

Not sure this is a great idea. Sunderland have loads of issues with away fans throwing things down onto home fans when they have this setup at their ground to the point they now close off the front 6/7 rows to try and reduce it.

Coincidently just watching the Stockport game and they’ve a two tier West stand behind a goal, but that, in part, may be die to space constraints behind the other stands.

True. Couldn't there be some sort of roof to split the 2? Or would that block the nearside view of the upper tier?

Yeah, pretty much penned in on three sides

We would have ended up with similar had we stayed (as plenty wanted us to) and redeveloped Saltergate.

If someone suggested it, I'd listen to their rationale, rather than dismissing it because of my nimbyism.

Answer the question. Don’t ask another one.

Why would the club.
A- incur cost to reconfigure a stand to accommodate more away fans?
B - piss off loads of loyal fans who have had seats in that part of the ground for years potentially risking a loss of revenue?

Nimbyism? Ffs man.

Didn’t Terry Ward, the architect for the SMH, do preliminary designs for a redeveloped Saltergate. I seem to remember seeing drawings with a large two tier Kop stand many years ago?

I think that was most certainly the case when they developed the stand but looking on Google maps now it seems the railway yard and sidings have long since gone and plenty of room behind the South and East stands, irrelevant of course.

Walsall (this season,) Notts, Port Vale, Donny, Bradford, Grimsby have all brought their allocation, or close to it, to our place this season. At least three and possibly four of those won't be here next season, and will be replaced by Crawley (114,) Bristol Rovers (934,) Cambridge (220) and Shrewsbury.(666) Figures in brackets are the highest that they've ever brought here. So Bristol Rovers might bring more than 1k, if they do well, as might York or Oldham, if they come up and do well, or if we get them early doors. I wouldn't be giving Oldham more than 1k after their last performance here.

So I think it'll be a bit less of an issue next season. Which I suppose means that we can more easily carry on as we are, or we can more easily shift folk about, given that it'd happen less.

Could we add part of N5 to the away allocation in the East Stand, and make anyone in it use the facilities under Little East?

I think that when season tickets were sold for the North it was done on the understanding that folk might not be able to buy their usual seat for big cup games, but I don't think that same principle of "you buy entry, but not a guaranteed seat" has ever been applied to anywhere else in the ground, certainly not for league games. Folk in the East would be entitled to be disappointed if the club started messing them about just to accommodate another thousand cultural ambassadors from Oldham.

Could you give a synonym for 'cultural ambassadors' ?

Have been some discussions on doing mainly due to pressure from home fans fed up of getting hit by stuff. League game with Coventry last season I think it was a lad in a wheelchair was hit by a bottle.
