What a shambles for York, 96 points and 90+ goals and completely useless.

The 15 day layoff seems a bit excessive. I'm sure when we were in them it was all over in a rush.

What happened to further talk of three up from the NL?
Looked it up:
The Football League say they will deal with the matter once the soon-to-be-installed Independent Regulator has resolved the massive funding disagreement between the EFL and the Premier League.
About three years time then

Crazy day. Lively in and out of the stadium. Was it the same season we played them on the bank holiday Monday at theirs? Bit rough in that away end that day. Cracking football match , mind.

No the bank holiday Monday game was 2000/01.

Seem to remember that the Oldham fans hate him, don't they?

Maybe just watching a few old mates. Just because we hate Oldham doesn’t mean he does Tbf.

Yeah they do. In fairness though they hate the gaffer as well and he’s taking them to Wembley. Not the smartest bunch.

At the very least, they can get rid of the eliminator nonsense. If the argument for having three go up is based on fairness and how you've done in the main season then they have no business in allowing 7th place a shot a going up when promotion places are at a premium. In divisions where 3 go up, play offs finish at 6th place, so what sense is there in this format and then moaning about unfairness. At the very least just make the playoffs a normal play off round for places 2-5

The eliminator must go. Fifteen days since York last played before the Oldham game, and it looked like it.

Yes- eight days for us two years ago. The lack of urgency to sort the number of teams promoted from the NL (it has to be three) and hence revert to a play off format like the EFL is mind boggling.

The NL have excelled themselves here. I think the fortnight between York's last two games is due to the final being pushed back a week by Wembley's non-availability on the preferred day. So they should have had the delay between the semis and the final, to make it the same for both teams. Or they should have planned this a year ago, and started the season a week later. Typical bungling on their part.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

15 days without a game is massively unhelpful at this stage.

If he isn't in Paul Cooks plans then I really hope he gets fixed up. He's been really good for us and a pleasure to watch. It doesn't matter who he signs for where I'm concerned, he needs to be in work and entertaining folk.

It isn't the playoff system that is wrong it is the scheduling by the NL. The eliminators are normally scheduled in the week after the end of the season. When we played Bromley in the semi we only had to wait 8 days. Why on earth is the semi 15 days after the end of the season is a bit of a mystery. I can only assume it is because they wanted to have the final at Wembley and was booked up so the slugged the playoffs.

Agree, the NL playoff format is about the only thing they get right.

Folk moaning about them in 8th being in a position to go up but at least they have to go through the playoffs with a distinct disadvantage to those in 2nd/3rd.

2 away games to the final as opposed to 1 home game.

The scheduling is the issue this season.

The National League got such stick over the year it took ages for the final venue to be announced only to end up with 2 more northern based teams playing at the London Stadium! They then made a big deal about the final being at Wembley for the next so many years to try and make up for it but i suspect that means they get shoved in where they can. Think ours was a fair bit earlier due to other stuff happening at Wembley etc and things like that.

I do like the play off set up in the National League and any play off situation where one team is miles ahead of others then loses will draw questions of how it works. Always suspected it would have kicked off had we held on to beat Notts County. The bigger issue is they need sort with the EFL 3 up 3 down with top 2 automatic but i think thats as much on the National League as the EFL to do and as we know from our time there the National League board are pretty crap!

Obviously just signed for them as he has a large bag of cash in his hands when he hugs Mellon.

I know fans don't dictate signings but Oldham fans would have ALOT to say if they signed Banks. Haven't spoken or come across an Oldham fan who has a good word to say about him for some reason. Imagine he may have been there supporting Micky Mellon or gone with Jeff King?

Or York are after him? That was the rumour this time last year, would certainly fit their style
