Never used to leave the labour club until about 1500 in the late 80s, there was always queues outside the kop turnstiles. Missed the odd early goal.

We used to drink in the Grouse on Brampton before games and once the first goal had gone in on Soccer Saturday from a game somewhere before we'd left the pub!

Which bit of the Kop are we looking at here? Is the centre of the Kop to the right of the photo?

There's no vision of the supporting pillars with the 'state of art speakers', so yes the centre will be to the right of the picture showing our usual vantage point but we ain't there. I d guess the stand side pillar and speaker is slightly to the left of the elderly gentleman as they were probably staying within earshot!!!

Foljambe Road in 2 minutes with a belly full ale. Impressive

Guessing it's taken from appx the point the 18 yard box meets the goal line, stand side. Showing were we stood but we aren't there yet. Perhaps Mr Tall or Azuls grandson could help.

It would be Rutland Road- about 300 yards in two minutes. Young enough to run it at the time.

Did we used to kick off at 3:15 or have I imagined that?

it was Arthur Cox who moved our kick off time to fall in line with the normal 3pm ko time

apparantly he wanted our victories to be announced with all the other classified results instead of the normal result not yet in with the 315 ko time

That caused problems for the Saltergate Club eventually, when someone realised the licence didn't cover opening up 15 minutes earlier.

Was the reason we kicked off at 3:15 something to do with giving the miners time to get to the ground, or am I imagining that as well?

I always thought it was last orders called at 3.00 with ten minutes supping up time and 5 minutes to get to match.
