It's very frustrating for all involved when it's obvious that the officials aren't inclined to give a decision to one side but are falling over themselves to award the opposition free kick after free kick. I was surprised that he didn't send Mandy off when their player bungled him into their bench after, what I saw as a red for the Bradford player. Very good play acting by their bench to try and move the blame onto Mandeville, so their player didn't even get a booking.

It's called game management now. Something we don't do enough of in my opinion. No good being nice anymore, I hate it and don't like it but it seems that's the way football is going these days, it gives an advantage and only Dobs does it so he gets watched for play acting by refs. If all our 11 did it including the keeper the ref would have a much harder job. The officials have brought this on themselves by not clamping down early on shenanigans .

Could also argue he lost his man for their 3rd goal. You can see him running in sludge trying to keep up as the fella slots his header away. I’m trying my best not to dig him out because Naylor last season was immense. He’s scored a couple of important goals and contributed this season I’m just concerned that regression has set in. Ideally next season he becomes more of a squad player as opposed to a starting midfielder weekly.

Few bits on the grapevine about him wanting a further year on top of next season, and being disappointed he’d been left out recently. Again, on the grapevine.

43 appearances across all competitions this season in a newly promoted side challenging for the last play off spot. Circumstances have dictated that we've messed Tom about this season and Mandy's another one.

People talk about Will and his injury this season, but he's still managed to make 33 appearances across all competitions and scored 12 goals. I still don't think people appreciate how hard it is to play that role and the absolute battering he takes on the pitch.

By coincidence I was thinking about the contract situations of both players after yesterday's game and I came to the conclusion that providing both players were sensible with their expectations I would be more comfortable awarding them a contract extension to the end of 2026/27 than I would be offering terms to Kyle & John for next season.

As I see it, Will & Tom have been big players for us and still have a part to play in our future success. Not easy players to replace as we have witnessed at times this season.

You are probably not wrong but that still does not explain the total lack of consistency in the decision making of officials. Yesterday’s men in black were consistently inconsistent in this respect whilst the Bradford squad appeared capable of orchestrating many decisions they made.

with the manager they have it will be probably ingrained into their players to use every trick in the book to influence referees to give decisions in their favour particulary against teams they are wary of

Did anyone else notice Araujo have a little kick out at their player after their tussle on the touchline just before he was subbed off? They were both at it but Araujo definitely had a bit of a flick at him. I thought the ref was going to book both of them. A red would have topped off Araujo's day.

Yes right in front of us in the east stand, their player definitely did it first but he was very lucky not to get a second yellow
East stand second class citizen.

The incident reminded me of the Beckham sending off vs Argentina.
The faintest of flicks but went down like he'd been knee capped.
Think the ref raised a 'come off it lad' eyebrow at the Bradford player but its that kind of shithouse stuff which, in my eyes, ruins the game.
Araujo = silly for the flick
Bradford lad = a whopping fanny

Be interesting to see the stats and data behind it. I imagine the most successful / effective teams regarding results have a high percentage of these tactics applied

You may well be right, just a personal preference myself for defying the trend.

One penalty all season is something more than just inconsistencies

Would be interesting if our media team could put together a compilation of all the pens we could have had
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

Just as interesting would be a reel of all Swindon’s 12 penalty awards this season. Perhaps we could pick up some tips.

I've often thought the same regarding the abysmal refereeing decisions in general.
