In the first-leg between @ChesterfieldFC and @WFCOfficial, Kyle McFadzean recorded 113 successful passes and 132 touches of the ball, both league-high figures for a Chesterfield player in a match this campaign 📈

His 113 completed passes were only 20 fewer than the whole of Walsall’s team combined (133)🤯

I am guessing that the majority of those were at walking pace, across the back, and under no pressure. Wow, only twenty fewer than the whole Walsall team ! Result - Walsall 2 Town 0.
I watched Stockport v Orient tonight, and the game was played at an intensity and pace for 2 hours that I don't think our current squad could live with. Walking football it was not.

Probably 130 more touches than Will Grigg had.

Possession football played around the back will increase the stats

We made a total of 632 passes against Walsall, 3rd highest total of the season behind 709 v Carlisle and 642 v Morecambe

Our passing accuracy was 86% which has only been better in 3 other games, the two above (both 89%) and Bromley at home with 87%, though it does match MK Dons away and Accrington at home which were both 3-0 defeats :o

74% possession was our joint 3rd highest this season behind the 78% when losing 3-0 at home to Accrington and 76% in the 1 all home draw with Port Vale, the other 74% was the home draw with Gillingham.

Our average possession in the 10 games we have won by 3 or more goals is 59%

Probably backs up what everyone already knows, when we have too much of the ball and are ponderous and slow, we don't do very well

And it gives the opposition all the time they need to get everybody back and prevent meaningful shots at their goal. PC will not change our style of play, which is OK by me, as long as we do it at a much quicker pace and with more accurate passing than we displayed on Monday.

Proves what we have said all along, possession is meaningless if you aren’t doing anything with it.

1. He just did and nobody said owt
2. He hasn’t repeated a crap opinion about him over and over again
3. A player not getting many touches isn’t necessarily that player’s fault

Agree, although I think the odd punt forward to the wingers or striker might help make the plan A more effective

Need to make sure Grigg is not isolated and get some decent crosses into the box, Sparkes has a big part to play if he's used

You are correct but what it does show is the limitations that I have questioned you cannot surprise teams by putting a ball through to run on to as pace is the issue or target a long pass as it won’t stick, in the six yard box he is A1 outside that his influence is minimal as we simply don’t play the above options due to the facts I stated, the only option is playing a no 10 much nearer him, the only players I see are Mandy and madden the llatter has not done enough

Can I review my opinion on fadz please,

Do not give him a contract, id rather have JG, he slows the game, plays everything sideways, nothing that might create, nothing out to the wings in a forward direction...

So after two seasons of saying he is crap, your now saying he isn’t crap but we don’t play a style of football that makes the most of his abilities
A new hope.

i'd hoped that the experience of these 2 going into the play offs may just tip the balance in our favour, not sure both did enough to make me think in the big games they really turn up... i don't know, perhaps with the right partners alongside them but jury is out i guess we may find out pretty soon.

I would deffo have him for a year.

He’s an organiser, he can pass a ball and isn’t afraid to get stuck in

He’s also playing to instructions- all our players pass sideways working the ball because that’s how Paul Cook tells them to play.

If Cookie told fadz to launch it into the channels every single time what do you think fadz would do?
A new hope.

I'd expect him to mix it up, like JG does, yes his short game is at times Ropey, but at least he does launch one into the channels every now and again, fadz just slowed everything down, played everything comfortably sideways and backwards
