We need 2 who are good enough to be starters from day 1 and a couple of back up/loanee options.

Yup, Naylor and fleck back up I’d be alright with. Need a young lad too I reckon

All great, mate; I appreciate your efforts. However, I was asking him who he's specifically referring to (he said he personally knows them and what they are earning, so who are they).

I hope you’ll understand, but I don’t feel it’s appropriate to share their names. They are friends of mine, and out of respect for their privacy, I prefer not to disclose their identities.

So many reds 😂😂
It’s quite remarkable how some individuals become upset simply because others have personal connections within the sporting world that they themselves do not. There seems to be an unwarranted sense of entitlement—an expectation that private information should be disclosed purely to satisfy curiosity. In reality, some people have friendships and networks that others may not, and those relationships, along with the individuals involved, deserve to be respected. Confidentiality and discretion should never be sacrificed for the sake of gossip or speculation.

Should have seen the wages some of the Derby lads were on in L1. And that was at a club “strapped for cash”…

The money at League 1 level has rocketed since we were last there. Not saying we can’t compete, but people being shocking by £5k+ wages in League 2 shouldn’t be.

People who think 5k is unheard of in this league have been living under rocks. Everything in football is inflated. Ticket prices. Food. Drinks. Wages. If you want a top striker or a player who might go for a decent sum then I d say 5k is a wage clubs will be willing to pay. What do people think dobra is on bearing in mind he’s signed 2 new contracts since he signed his initial one? He's had clubs higher than us sniffing round him every transfer window. He's not gonna just keep putting pen to paper for a pittance is he? Yeah he might love it here and he might really like working under cook but money talks and we will definitely be making it worth his while to stay with us.

As per the Group accounts submitted by the Trust to the end of June 2023, the number of employees whose employee benefits (excluding employer pension costs) exceeded £60,000 was:

£60,0001 - £70,000: 2 (2 in 2022)

£70,001 - £80,000: 1 (2 in 2022)

£80,001 - £90,000: 3 (3 in 2022)

£90,001 - £100,000: 0 (1 in 2022)

£100,001 - £110,000: 1 (1 in 2022)

£110,001 - £120,000: 0 (1 in 2022)

£120,001 - £130,000: 2 (0 in 2022)

£130,001 - £140,000: 0 (1 in 2022)

£140,001 - £150,000: 1 (0 in 2022)

£210,001 - £220,000: 1 (0 in 2022)

That gives you an indication where we were two years ago. Obviously since this reporting period, there has been a quite a bit of player churn and we’ve signed a number of big hitters and offered improved terms to others.

I think a holding midfield of mandeville and Met Calle would be superb next year, they would bounce off each other, 2 lads full of energy

Zero chance Mandeville plays as holding midfielder next year.

So, back then, only 1 player on more than £4k a week (4 x 52 = £208k).
Or does Cooky count in this?
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

One of the positions he actually plays.

He’ll be on the bench then. Mandeville is an outstanding footballer but he’s just not a winger at this level and certainly isn’t a right back as good of a job as he has done filling in. His second half performance where he basically played centre mid against Bradford was I think the best performance I have seen from any of our players all season. I think he has to play central. He sets the tempo and gets everyone else playing around him, he should be involved as much as possible.

I would like to see Mandy tried out as a holding midfielder in at least one pre season game

Why not, he reads the game in front of him well, can sense danger and put a decent tackle in, comfortable on the ball, a good passer and carries the ball forward well.

I think he’d need a Morsy-type player alongside him for protection, the opposition would target him. Like Oldaker last season, an opposition manager commented that they’d done their homework - stop DJ and we can’t control the game. Opposition managers will work us out quite quickly.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

You don’t need to do much to stop DJ, he stops the game himself. Mark him tightly maybe so he doesn’t have room and freedom to pass.
Great player for using and passing the ball, but lack energy movement and dynamism
A fault inherent through the whole side really
A new hope.

When you say a Morsey type of player, what do you mean?

Morsey was great on the ball, had that knack of turning as he recieved it to “roll his marker” and got from box to box quickly- but supported and enhanced by Ryan as well - also a player who was energetic and got about the pitch.

It’s that energy, movement, forward drive we’ve often lacked especially as Naylor was so often used as a CB - and Tom does like to get forward.
A new hope.
