Having read all the above I much preferred the good old "Green Un" especially if bought of Jabber at the corner of Vicar Lane, followed by a pint in the Oak

Indeed. Players in league 1 on £10,000 per week +. The pipe dream of championship football is well out of touch nowadays with the money being absolutely insane. Mid table league 1 is about our ceiling without even more serious investment and probably other investors.

That’s where I’m at. I could only see us reaching the Championship if we become the next club to be purchased by a Middle Eastern billionaire and repeat Brentford and Bournemouth. We just don’t have the funds to compete sadly with the likes of Huddersfield, Wycombe, Stockport, Barnsley etc.

AI is pretty much useless for that question though. For a reliable answer you need a good amount of data to train the AI. When there is pretty much no publicly available information you aren't going to get anything worth taking seriously.

I tried it and the two guesses it gave were millions of dollars(!) apart

I've found it reasonably useful on a number of subjects, but even when you're supplying it with the data, I think it picks up on the user's bias depending on how it is prompted. Also the more you prompt it, the more it changes its mind.

Given the lack of open source data covering our players' wage bill and that of other clubs, I think Waller's had a bit of a stinker here for suggesting it as a useful guide. Even some of the historical data which might act as a guide, like the group accounts published by the Trust, it's failed to find.

It’s good for doing enhanced searches. On Twitter/X you can ask Grok if there have been any transfer rumours and it says Markanday but no other rumours -

Information on Chesterfield FC transfer rumours for the summer 2025 window is limited and mostly speculative. The available sources don’t provide concrete details on confirmed targets or signings, but there are some indications of potential activity based on recent posts and historical patterns.

One rumour circulating on X suggests Chesterfield could target winger Dilan Markanday. His prior stint with the club was impressive, and he has a good relationship with the Spireites, though it’s uncertain whether he’d be willing to return to League Two.

Beyond this, no specific players are consistently linked with Chesterfield for summer 2025 in the provided sources. Websites like Transfermarkt and Football Transfers note that Chesterfield’s transfer activity for the 2024/2025 season is ongoing, but they lack detailed rumours for the upcoming window. General club news from sources like Derbyshire Times and Chesterfield FC’s official site focus more on current season updates, such as the retained list (four players released) and youth team activities, rather than future transfers.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

With the departures of Jones, Banks, DJ and Metcalfe we definitely need players for those midfield positions

Of course it's a useful guide — just because it didn’t give you the exact answer you were hoping for doesn’t make it a "stinker." AI is incredibly useful for many tasks, but that doesn’t mean it gets everything 100% right all the time.

Wasn't there talk that we'd go back in for the Canadian (might be American I don't remember) lad that fell through in Jan?

Should have seen the wages some of the Derby lads were on in L1. And that was at a club “strapped for cash”…

What is the salary expenditure for playing staff only at Chesterfield Football Club 2024-2025 season?

That's not AI. That is quoting a news article from the DT. You'd get the exact same article with a Google search.

Just googling at random so not verifiable.....

Gavin Kilkenny Swindon, £5.2k/week
James Norwood Oldham, £3.1k/week
Bradley Dack Gillingam, £4.5k/week

All great, mate; I appreciate your efforts. However, I was asking him who he's specifically referring to (he said he personally knows them and what they are earning, so who are they).

We need 2 who are good enough to be starters from day 1 and a couple of back up/loanee options.
