Still think there is a player in there with Hobson, there is definitely no lack of effort with him ......

He’s likeable. There’d be no lack of effort from me too, but I’m not good enough either. He’ll make a career I think, but I don’t think he’s worth persisting with. He’ll never get anywhere near Dobra or Markanday.

Donacien is a better right back than both Sheckleford and VDC. His fitness is clearly the issue. McFadzean and Dunkley will almost certainly be our first choice pairing this season. Are you thinking Naylor to cover RCB and Grimes to cover LCB? I don’t want to see Naylor anywhere near the defence again personally.

If Donacien can prove his fitness, I would much rather him and Tanton be our options at right back and use Donacien as the cover for RCB too, instead of Naylor.

I’m not thinking of Naylor as a RCB. I want to see him playing further forward.

Thinking of Naylor as a CB is a bit like thinking of Mandeville as a RB but, at times, needs must.

As I said, I think both McFadzean and Dunkley are best suited to the RCB position but it seems they might be our CB pairing. However, if one was to miss a game for whatever reason I would expect Grimes to come in at LCB. Whichever way you look at it then it leaves us short in both CB positions. Naylor could be Cook’s choice as our 3rd RCB so I think we should be looking for another LCB as reinforcement before another RCB.

I agree Donacien could cover RCB and RB but he is taking a long time to sign the contract offered to him. Surely, the Club have put a deadline on this and now Tanton has returned we already have 3 RBs on the books plus Mandeville in an emergency. As such, I think there is more room for younger CBs to be brought in if Donacien moves on.

Club is apparently trying to sort Madden out on a season long loan to Rochdale, they contributing towards his wages.

I'm concerned about Naylors lack of pace

Wouldn’t be a surprise if we can’t/don’t want to.

Not much demand for Madden then, if the best we can get is a loan deal to Rochdale with us paying an unknown amount of his wages

I agree, imo he needs to relax a bit , it’s as though he is trying to impress too much , has one too many touches, runs with ball when a pass is all is needed, definitely a player in him, off the ball is questionable
