Some extremely interesting stats in that article- especially around Boot (not good) and defensive midfield (not good) and Pepple (not good)

There are. But the stats tell us what we already know from watching the games ultimately.

For some of us yes, although there’s been a lot of support on here for Boot being our first choice keeper next season.

The stats don't allow for us having such a high defensive line than other sides, which obviously exposes our keeper to more one on ones

This stat stood out though:
He also had only the 17th-best save percentage (67.4%) in the league, putting him behind almost every other keeper from a top-half side.

Can’t recall him conceding too many one on ones.

Stats can be extremely misleading. You can essentially pick out a group of specific ones to fit any agenda. You’d quite easily be able to find stats Boot leads in if you want to make him look like Buffon just as you’d be able to shape certain ones to make Pepple look like Pele.

Maybe not a very popular opinion, but I'm more than happy for boot to be number 1 and am not bothered signing someone to be number 1 although we obviously need a backup

Boot isn’t good enough for a team with ambitions of wining the league.

A piece of gossip suggested Boot would be no 1 but he's not signed yet?
Gossip also suggests a keeper was at the ground for a look around Friday.

Good old speculation lol!

Let's be right, saving a penalty is a lottery - so not overly fussed on that one

I like Boot, I don’t think he’s a stand out goal keeper but I think he’s solid enough to do us a good job in league 2

However saying that we obviously need another keeper and i think that cook and the team will look to bring in better than what we have now as opposed to a number 2, which would leave Boot in number 2.

Either way I think we have more important roles that need filling.

Decent keeper but definitely someone we can upgrade on.

He came in as a No.2 in NL...

I think that's fair synopsis, not our biggest problem but room for improvement.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

I’m not so sure it is, some keepers definitely give off the impression they are more likely to save one. Fitzsimmons never looked like saving one for us at Wembley for example.

When you see Pickford in net for England he gives you some confidence that he is going to save one especially in shoot outs.

Against premium league listed Tyrer who then played in L1 regularly

Unless the penalty taker telegraphs it or takes a poor one (so the keeper can adjust to save it) there is no way the keeper knows which way the penalty taker is going to go. Absolutely guess work/luck.
I've always said regarding taking a penalty would be to practice sticking it into the 'top bin' of tbe goal as imo, that is probably the only place it would be impossible for the keeper to reach with a standing start and reaction time
