Because unless they go into management a Professional Footballer's career is rather short compared to us mere mortals who have to work from (lowest age realistic) 18 to 65+ and usually most players have retired when they get towards the 38-40 YO bracket with not many having anything to go forward into.

This idea that footballers have to cram 50 years of earning into 15 years should be binned, really. I don't recall many players who gave up the game in their mid-thirties and were then forced to sit on their arse until the state pension kicked in. They all usually find something else.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

When someone decides to go with being a professional footballer what level of stupidity would be required not to know that it will not be a job for life?
If they are also stupid enough to not prepare for life beyond football then the ridiculous earnings are definitely not justified.
Can anyone actually justify the immoral levels of wages in the top leagues (and Wrexham), which we know can only go one way, upwards?

Video on YouTube asking why crowds are so small (Colchester bigger catchment than Tairn and many other better supported outfits, for what it's worth).

A combination of local apathy and the ground being so isolated the apparent answer.

Recent reports a takeover fell through, too.

Guess they can only hope their owner continues to be sympathetic...

Back in the mid 80’s I used to go to most of their games as the ground was a short walk from our MQ. I trained with them on a couple of occasions (not football but cardio stuff) when I was building myself up for various courses. They never had a large following at Layer Rd when I used to go, on par with us back in the grim Saltergate days. Not sure if it’s the same now (probably not) but the town back then showed very little interest in the club
