I?m not sure where to start but there are lots of questions. Recruitment for a start. So many poor signings in January. We need a huge clear out and we will get one. Only 7 players (including dunkley) in contract. Also we need to have a question asked about training methods. Why has JD broken down again? Where is coco? Why has fleck not shed any of the weight that he clearly has despite being on the books for 6 months? Finally, a question about selection. Why did we abandon the 4141 formation that we stumbled upon yet served us well? Like lots of managers before us, seems like cook has stumbled into the picking teams in the hope that something will come off whereas the bottom line is the squad is poor and it?s our scouting team that has got them here.

Found out via the DT thread this week that nepotism runs as far as the recruiting staff. I wonder what credentials our Kieran has apart from being the manager?s son? No wonder he?s happy staying here as most of his family is on the payroll. Heard that PC jr is going on a junket abroad soon to look at potential bargains?.during 4 games!! Laugh - you couldn?t make it up if you tried.

We?ve suffered injuries, yes but this excuse can?t be used ad infinitum.

Team selections and formation are one thing but an inability to change things straight away when things are going wrong has been a recurring issue all season. Criminal that DJ and Metcalfe weren?t replaced at HT. Neither have an attacking spark in them and the latter will never score a goal as long as he has a hole in his arse_nal. No it?s not bad luck nor the referee - the buck stops with the manager. But has he ever blamed himself ? No it?s always the player?s fault if you listen to his post-match interviews.

Sideways, backwards, sideways, backwards?..as usual there?s no urgency in the game until it?s too late. Nearly 63% possession most weeks but with nothing to show for it

Yes, everyone knows I?m a critic of our manager, and one of a very few who has dared to raise their head above the parapet even when things haven?t gone belly-up this far. I?m afraid the majority who still defend him are living in the past. Even the commentator today was making lame excuses by saying that Grigg would have made all the difference. Last week Ty was the unuttered excuse for the worst performance witnessed this year.

From everyone being convinced we were going straight up, sights were then quickly readjusted to the play-offs. Now we?ll be scrambling to stay out of the relegation zone. Yet this is what Notts County did will say those still in denial.

A big clear out at the end of the season ? I?d add another (at least) from the non-playing members of the team. Passionate about football - yeah like all our fans, but when a manager is tactically inept it?s not enough in today?s game.

I understand the situation we have been/are in, I do not understand how Madden and DJ came back out for second half.I do not understand why it is OK to hold Pepple around the neck all the game.I do not understand how Dobs gets the same punishment as the player that dragged him to the ground and kept him held down.I do not understand the new rule book now in use.
As stated recently I am also concerned regarding upcoming games and the way we usually perform against lower clubs, but I suppose that is better balanced now that we have joined 'the lower clubs'.
I don't understand the waiting until the last 15 minutes to introduce subs either, when a game is getting away from us and it is so obvious which two or three need pulling.
Plenty of proof I have no idea about managing.

Paul Cook very rarely does any subs until the 70th minute (baffling) even if it's crying out for a change. He also is reluctant to change shape midway through a game for a plan B, it's just his way he is very superstitious I think.

Talking of subs, it seemed like they made loads, I know ya can make 5 changes but only in 3 different substitutions, but it felt like they made more ..

Half time today I asked a very simple question: how many of that starting eleven will be first team next August?

I'd guess one - Dobra.

And that sums it up. Crewe have clearly evolved from our visit to Gresty Road, whilst Paul Cook's been reduced to plugging ever growing squad gaps with largely raw loanees and rusty veterans.

Some of whom in turn fell victim to this season's injury curse.

So yeah, we've a right to criticise. But please, let's keep it in context...

Games are going to be tough with the options we have through the middle of the team. If Palmer hadn?t got injured in the summer, he would have left. He wasn?t even in the thinking for this season. He?s only still here because of the injuries. Grimes would not be playing if we hadn?t lost Dunkley and Araujo. He?d be on the bench at best. Central defence is so, so important and we had two players there today who tried their best, can?t fault the effort, just miles of the standard required.

In midfield neither Oldaker or Metcalfe will ever dominate a game. Take it by the scruff of the neck. Neat and tidy short passing yes, but they both need a beast (Morsy type) next to them to dominate and drive forward. Fleck looks class (He?s always been a stocky lad) but we?re not going to get many 90 minutes out of him. I like Banks but again, he?s never going to dominate a game. Naylor has been poor. He looks a shadow of the player he was last season but I?d bring him back in on Tuesday for sure.

Pepple has something, but he?s never going to be a goal scorer. He works hard and puts himself about but he lacks that instinct in the box and is poor in the air. I think Grigg might be our biggest miss.

We are just weak right through the spine of the team and we make far too many hideous mistakes that almost always lead to goals. The season is fizzling out but consolidation was always the aim. We need to get another couple of wins as soon as possible so we can relax about the trapdoor and look towards an interesting summer.

I?d agree with Grigg being the biggest miss.
Just in front of Naylor / who Cook seems to have absolutely ruined.

More stubborn I think. Today?s subs were baffling again. 2-0 down in the last quarter of the game and he brought Fleck on ( who did well) but kept on DJ!! Two holding midfielders when we needed goals is an interesting tactic

I had a look back at our starting eleven for when we murdered Crewe earlier in the season. Only Boot, Oldaker and Dobra started then and today. Of the 18 man squad named that day, 12 were not involved today for one reason or another. Tells us a lot about the issues we have had this season.

I mean, we improved once the subs came on to be fair.

We got a goal tho once he changed things , built some pressure and was looking to build something more until the lino decided not to flag for offside which completely killed it. Either way , we stank the place out today , it was a nothing performance, they didn?t actually have to do anything and found themselves 2 up. We need to improve no doubt but it?s not the end of the world like some will have us believe.

Sparkes will become even better once Griggs back , how many good balls does he whip across without us having that poacher making the move. So many just flash across the face of goal.

The reason very few haven't raised their heads above the parapet, isn't because they daren't. They just don't see Cookie as being tactically inept.

You're not brave at all. You're just alone, very sad and alone, and need to be seen. The best way to be seen and heard, is raising your head above the parapet and and making a fool of yourself.

Who the f**k are you to slag off Phil and Ash Kirk? They're clearly happy paying Connor Cook to go and scout some players. They've poured absolute ?millions in to the club that we support, and you go throwing tantrums about them.

Don?t bother with him. He thinks way too much of himself. The man?s clearly got some sort of issue with the club and cook. Not a genuine poster. Summet not quite right with his posts. Disgruntled ex employee of some sort I reckon.

completely agree, be interesting to see what happens when gordon is fit again (which can't be long now), gordon was arguably our player of the season until injured, noticed today duffy came on and played right side and i thought he was very effective there, could all 3 play in the same side?
