Tyrone had emergency surgery twice at John Radcliffe hospital at Oxford , well at least that was what I was told after the Crewe game last week by a very good source.

Likewise. Moving nearer to home soon.

He does a lot of that.

He does something else a lot, despite us being well aware. Hence my tone.

Great to see Ty doing so well. Like many others, I feared the worst.

All that matters to me, is to see a fully fit Tyrone Williams, hopefully he will play again for us in the futuretoo. Dislocated shoulder, and now this, while at the same time playing the best football of his time with us. Sometimes life just isn't fair, and that goes for Phil Kirk too. I'm hoping for the best outcome for both.

Fundamentally it's great news that Williams would seem to be on the mend. As before, I wish him the very best for a speedy recovery.

Presumably the end of the season will give the club many difficult decisions to make about the OOC players; including Williams. Heart and head.

Williams eagerness to get back on the pitch after dislocating his shoulder (I think that it was reported that he wanted to try to secure a new contract) spoke volumes.

Maybe the medics will guide him towards a decision about his playing future before the the end of the season. Whatever the medics advise, it would be great if the club could sort something out for him either on the pitch or off it. Ideally her, or somewhere else. Head and head I know. But it just seems the right thing to do IMHO.

We're certainly doing the right thing by him and his family at the moment.

Do you remember the proposal the NL tried to bring in? SSP only after 12 weeks and contract termination for long term injured. Disgraceful.

Tyrone Williams has given 100% to the cause when called upon, and I've no doubt supported those who played when he didn't. If he hadn't won a new contract here for next season, I'm sure a league two club would have snapped him up, but that's all in the air now.
Hopefully, he'll be given the okay to play on, and we give him another deal, but not out of sentiment, because he deserves it with the performances he's put in this season. He grasped his chance when called into the team, but it's just damn awful that he's had two injuries, with one very serious, that's put paid to his season.

Not much of any good comes from the NL board, unless it benefits the pigs in the top trough,as we found.

Whilst it?s great to hear Ty apparently making good progress which is what we wanted to hear above all, significantly the nature of the injury still hasn?t appeared to have been disclosed. I fear he may not play again, of course that is secondary to him getting back to good health.
I always thought he was decent and like Grimes sometimes unfairly maligned by some.

Let's hope it's a very positive outcome for Tyrone, because he has many decent playing years ahead of him.
You're right about both him and Grimes being made the scapegoat for some of the goals conceded, but I think that the reason behind the dodgy defence was the poor quality of our full backs. It wasn't till this year that we had Gordon and Tanton. Both were quick and could get back into their defensive positions, it's just a pity both got injured.
Williams is plenty good enough to play at this level, but it depends on what the specialist says. He's not the only one who I'm worried about, because Chey Dunkley was supposed to be back playing in early February but I just hope he's back for next season.

Assuming this isn?t career threatening I?d give Ty another contract. Doesn?t let us down at all and we need to retain some of the old guard.

Although I suppose that?s 3 players for the RCB slot assuming McFadzean stays and Dunkley is ok to play next season? hmm

Could be wrong but I don't remember ever seeing Williams made a scapegoat to be honest. He is a decent player and has never let us down. I'd certainly play him ahead of Palmer and Grimes every time personally. He would be fine as backup next season if he is healthy.

My guess is you won?t stand of those 3 again next season.

As a minimum I?d expect us to offer him rehab like Ipswich did with Donacian if he is hoping to continue his career

Does he qualify for some sort of PFA "sick pay" if injured during his contract and undertaking rehab after his contract expires?

I'd expect he'll get some support from them given he was an EFL player when injured. I think this is the first season he has played at a level recognised by the PFA, unlike George Carline who got **** all support because he never played for a league club, not even at academy level. Bit sad in this day and age that the NL isn't classed as professional by the PFA - dinosaurs?

Correct. If a player has not been registered as a full time pro within the 92, he's considered a semi pro by the PFA and although they can join the PFA they are associate members who pay less subs but get fewer benefits.
I think this stems back to the days when the National League was semi pro and they have failed to keep up with the times of NL clubs now being full time. As you said.... Dinosaurs.
