I see Gormless got the upper hand on Nigel last night.

That's another nail in the coffin for Nigel, in addition to the numerous nails already collected.

The lid must be pretty secure now.

Hope Johnny boy doesn’t get shut of him just yet though, best chance of them going down is with him still at the helm. Sadly barring a gargantuan turnaround from Burton I think they’re safe for this season but 20th place is looking pretty nailed on.

Watching their capitulation next season will be compulsive viewing though.

You seen the interview from after the game? From Nigel’s assistant I think it was. Wasn’t happy at all. Seemed like a decent fella to be fair to him.

Andy Garner. Raised 5 doors away from me in Stonebroom.

I wrote to Duncan to tell him what a prospect Andy was when he was scoring for fun at Alfreton at 15. Duncan sent a scout but Andy had signed for Derby. Why we didn't already know all about him remains a mystery to me.

Could do with Burton winning a couple of games quite quickly.

Looking at their fixtures the next could be their best chance. Mansfield may have a difficult set but they might already have enough points.

Sadly. They could stop up with what they already have.

Yeah they’ll stay up due to their very decent first half of the season I reckon.

They must have the oldest squad in the football league, hardly a player under 25.

Re the thread title they might agree that you have to smile...as they'll likely be playing L1 football next season.

Being amongst them there doesn't seem to be a belief that they're at risk of relegation. Very friendly bunch in my local boozer to the lonely Spireite. Only friendly banter. It's how it should be.

I think they have too many points in the pot to go down this season, more's the pity, but without a major rebuild, I can see them struggling next year, hopefully.

It would be good to play them next season especially if they stay up.
