My work colleague is going there later this month, She's looking forward to it. She doesn't know which war it's related to but even so...

We?re looking at visiting Krakow and Auschwitz later on the year. Due to various other plans it might not be possible to go until late October early November, weather forecast sites say similar temps to the Uk but we?re just wondering if anyone has visited that time of year and is it too cold to visit various sites etc or is it UK similar temps?
Went in Jan a few years ago, probably 4 or 5 degrees colder than the UK.

Spend your time there rather than doing the salt mines etc. take your time going around the camps.
And krakow is an amazing city, the factory used by Schindler is now a museum as well so that?s worth a visit

Should be a good trip for you mate. Just remember to think about some of the rhetoric used back then and how it could all come back one day in the future if we?re not careful 👍🏻 I?ve never been but hope you have a cracking time and tell us about it when you?re back, it?s something I?d like to do.

The salt mines is one of the trips she wants to do.

It?s great if you like salt😂
My two bits of advice would be to spend your evenings in the Jewish quarter and avoid the square
Take the train to Auchwitz , book your tour directly with the museum and make your own way, it?s easy direct train and then a pleasant walk which is well signposted

We went in December a few years ago now and the temperature then was slightly colder than what you would expect here. I think by going later in the year, you will probably find that it adds to your experience.
As well as the obvious must visits, there are plenty of free walking tours (yellow umbrellas) which we found useful. Some are better than others.
If you're looking for good accommodation, we had a great time at the Queen Boutique Hotel in Krakow.

If you want to do something a bit different go to Monowizt there were many of the Auschwitz sub camps and it?s where most of the slave labour worked - I.G.Farben factory, who later became BASF making cassette tapes? It?s about 3 miles north east of Birkenau
Hartley anyone goes there, there?s some great little bars and cafes as well.
You?ll spend as long driving to the salt mines as you will in them.

Yes we?ve looked at that one but I think she?s set on the Wyndham just off the square
So late Oct/early Nov shouldn’t be too cold?

I went in July a few years back and it was ridiculously hot. Part way through the tour was an almighty storm, thunder/lightening etc and 2 slightly less agile Americans in our group fainted at different stages. Not sure if it made it more harrowing or not but certainly got an interesting addition to the tour, which is fascinating but also deeply disturbing.
Would recommend Salt Mines, Jewish Quarter, Schindlers factor etc. great city, reasonably priced and can usually snare flights for a very good deal
