I think it?s an insult to Joe to even put this guy in the same category. He will be plying his trade against the likes of Hemel, Aveley and Bishops Stortford in a few seasons IMO.

How can you judge him today, what did Madden do. Midfield were crap ,get the forwards in the box attacking the crosses in the box. The new lad looked exciting on an awful pitch.

The truth is playing as a lone striker the way we play is incredibly difficult. Perhaps those numbskulls who have questioned Grigg from time to time might appreciate how good he actually is.

watching a few of the videos he looked ok,but this league is a huge step up on last year,so we are stuck with playing madden in a position we didnt bring him in for and a player who looks a bad bit of business at present,we need a lower league chris wood, ernie moss would have been in clover

the ironic thing is grigg would be struggling,if you look at his heatmap ,he was operating at a third of the chances that other top strikers in the division were ,prior to injury he had i think 18 chances, nathan lowe for wallsall had 54 chances,we are not creating enough or shooting enough,we are a pass too many in every attack,we give teams far too much time to get organised and compact

He probably would be right now given what's happening behind the front line. At our best the ball moves quickly. Too often now it's laboured, overly negative and as you say allows savvy sides to get men in place to negate our threat.

Just what we needed...a new Walton. At least Walton has some fun, actually. You're just desperately battling for the crown of chief bell end on here.

I'm inclined to agree. Works hard but Southend mi table NL a different kettle of fish. The lad is between 2 stools for me - a target man and/or someone with pace who creates off his own back, He's not a finisher. Good option to have on bench. Striker in on Monday.

Seems incredibly quick to judge a player from what, probably less than 90 minutes total? I thought v Bromley he showed good strength and held the ball up well. Maybe give him a few more games before he's written off a failure

He's played 324 minutes.

Of which I?ve seen all 324. If memory serves he had a half chance shot against Rotherham plus a waft with his left foot which was miles off target in the same game. Since then. Nowt. I?ve seen enough football to wonder why he was recruited? He?s the new Byron Harrison.

I?m old enough to remember some quite mediocre players up front for Town over the years. Pepple to me is as less effective than players such as Mark DeBolla and Wade Small, who did a job but were never ever likely to score many goals.

It would be interesting to see him alongside Madden in a two but we all know there's no chance of that happening.

Can you imagine what it would be like if we had just forked out a large fee for a winger from league 2 who either is not good enough to make the squad or not fit enough to play a part? Maybe, a player who arrived carrying an injury but our medical people failed to pick up on it?

Exactly this. As a lone striker it's a tough job even for Grigg with all his experience and skill to score, so how do you expect a young lad from the division below to cope ?

I?m sure targeting a young inexperienced striker for criticism who has likely never played in this lone striker system before alongside the attacking midfielders, many of whom have just come through the door as well, is absolutely the way to go
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
