. I meant to type "the worry is" which changes the meaning. I don't know if he's got one or not but I'd guess he has

I don t owt know but I?d be amazed if there wasn?t a release clause. He signed his last deal when he was a NL player and would have wanted some sort of assurance that he could further his career if the opportunity arose. He was certainly playing below his level in NL and you could argue he is playing below his level in L2.

I suspect hes at his peak value at the moment, where we can hold out for a healthy fee. In the summer there will only be a year left on his contract and we might be tempted by a lower offer. In any case my suspicion is that this is his last season with us
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Changing agents could work both ways, and maybe his original agent was pushing him for a move and Dobra didn't feel ready to leave the club. If,in the near future, he's playing in league one with us, it'll be championship clubs who come knocking. He's not the finished article yet,and Dobra is his own worst critic, with him seeing every poor pass, shot or loss of control as letting everyone down.
Here's hoping to see him playing with us in league one.

Different attributes. Berry is much better at having a natural eye for goal and seeing a pass. The later one let's Dobs down TBF and he'd be long gone if he had this and would definitely be playing on the championship. Dribbling wise, tenacity with the willingness to track back, tackle and work hard for the team Dobra is amazing at.

The thing is value for offensive players is judged on these attributes and that's why players like Berry are always worth a punt. There is a lot of players about that are really good dribblers and look good on the eye, with little end product. Where dobra stands out from most of the others is his work rate and tenacity. Dobs is coming along nicely TBF to him, though I don't ever see him having a natural ability to unlock defences with his passing.

Well, I doubt Berry would have scored the goal Dobra did on Saturday. Similarly, Dobra would not have scored the type of goals Berry did at times. They both play in, or have played in, our three behind the one. Work rate wise, tenacity wise, defensive wise, Dobra is more the team player and has been a regular choice to start games unlike Berry who has been more of an impact sub. Dobra is also younger so has a little more time on his hands to improve further.

I know which one will be the bigger miss if a club is prepared to meet our valuation.

Well said.

Every time Dobs starts you would put the farm on him contributing and having a good game. With Bez, you might have a bit of a punt that he could score a worldie.

I would lean towards the respect between him and Cook means there is a gentlemen's agreement over not standing in his way if the right move comes along.

I'd heard he'd changed his agent since signing his latest deal, that previously his dad handled his deals?

Nothing wrong with that, fair play to him for 'keeping it in the family' but assume he's moved to a 'proper' agent now and as such someone with contacts in the game, contacts in he media and thus able to kick up more of a rumour mill too?

Well having started the thread I am a little more reassured (watch him go next week now!).
Like most people I accept that he will definitely leave at some point, and obviously it wouldn't be fair to moan about a player trying to further his career, just hope we can hang on to him for a little longer and maybe he might be content to stay and play at a higher level with us.

As I have mentioned regarding Berry the number of town players who have left for 'better things' only to disappear or have a disappointing career is endless. Obviously there are exceptions such as Kevin Davies (although it took him along time to hit his stride) and Danny Wilson (ditto to a lesser extent) and currently Sam Morsy, whilst Sam Clucas had a decent career, and there was Oggy in goal, although none truly set the world on fire. However, for every one of these there have been many who have failed. Even the great Alan Birch had a relatively disappointing career after he left us - which continued when he returned to us. And surely he was at least as good as Berry and Dobra. Maybe some players - and their greedy agents - don't realise what a step up it can be, although you can't blame them for trying.

There are others like Bowery and Folan who were very lucky to get moves to higher divisions as they weren’t great for Town.

100% agreed he'd be the bigger miss to us, though that's not what bigger clubs are looking for, they want someone that has has more of Berry's attributes that they can develop further imo and that's where the interest had come from. No doubt if Berry had stayed fit, played more and kept his impressive goal stats up then there would have been a lot more interest.

Yep, very lucky. Both were massively overblown by folk on here; neither made it and neither were going to. Nice earner for them and their respective agents.

It would be a tempting offer to the powers that be, should that offer be made. Unless quality replacements were immediately lined up you could probably kiss this season goodbye immediately though.

I think with the rebuild required & players out of contact, with that kind of money plus the money received for berry you'd have to back cook to build a side in the summer that would walk this league next season.
