A few players who relish a scrap - lack of - that sums us up perfectly. If it comes down to a scrap we fall short, as we did today.

Thinking on and looking at highlights, that's certainly the evidence.

Mandeville hit the post and Michael missed the sitterist of sitters before half time. Their manager made a tactical change and I'd like to know what that was 'cos we weren't able to handle it.

Grimes lost out in a heading duel and Boot lost out competing for a punch out. Other dozing defenders didn't compete for the second ball. Goal 1.

Mandeville lost out in a race and no help, Grimes failed to clear with his right foot. Scramble. Goal 2.

Grimes laid a subtle offside trap that was too subtle for Palmer. Gordon forgot that tackling is allowed. Goal 3.

Palmer fannied about getting his body shape right and lost out on a duel . Boot parried into trouble. Goal 4.

We rallied a bt when Mandeville moved in to midfield, he gets others playing, but it was too late.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

He said in his inquest that a 'negative'(my word) kind of arrogance was evident. I sat near enough to him to know exactly who he was referring to.

Mandeville's lack of pace leaves us exposed in that position.

A good tricky winger usually gets the better of a decent right back

Mandy isn’t even a right back, he’s filling in so it’s hardly surprising

If only Grimsby’s form could go very swiftly tits up, then just maybe. Their last 3 games look very tricky. Having said that, even it did I doubt we’d have consistency to take advantage.

I can't be bothered to read the thread, so I'll be repeating what is said elsewhere no doubt.

The worst thing would be to get promoted again. We don't have the quality to get up another level and stay up.

Another year in L2 will only do us good. This has been a season of discovery.

Discover who can't hack it, where L2 would be a bridge too far for them. Better to determine that in L2.

If we got promoted we'd have to sign better players than we will otherwise. Going up certainly wouldn't be the 'worse thing'. We would be fine. At the same time I'm comfortable in the belief that we will be automatically promoted next season.

Looks like it, more than likely miss out by 2 points knowing us

Though Newport and Harrogate aren't the easiest places to go for Colchester and Grimsby tomorrow, so a win against Fleetwood for us could certainly make things a little interesting again

If only I had faith in us being able to beat Fleetwood 🤣

In fairness to the squad, I wouldn’t say L2 has been a bridge too far - we are top half and have flirted with the play offs - you could argue the squad is comfortably of L2 level.

It falls short of a side matching the clubs ambitions of L1 however.

Love your optimism but slight difference, he has been here three years and built the squad. He came it midseason that year so it won't be history repeating itself if it does happen
