What a great bloke he was. He would often turn up for a George Best celebrity event as 9 out of 10 times George didn't as he was wasted and that's how I met him once as I was hoping to see Bestie.

RIP Dennis, top pro and an all round top guy

He scored the backheel but results elsewhere meant they were going down anyway. He wasn?t to know that at the time and was substituted straight after

Edit: I've just remembered where it was that I met Dennis Law. It was a charity football match in Clowne that George didn't show for, but totally unannounced Dennis did. He was a total gentleman and wasn't in any hurry to get away and loved engaging with folk. Apparently I've got a photo with him and mum (who has been past away for nearly 20 years). Say hello to mum for me Dennis is you bump into her🥰

A close friend of mine was manager of Chesterfield ladies many years ago and tonight reminisced about the time Denis Law was at a game and approached him asking if he was the manager (manager on the back of the jacket should have given it away) and how impressed he was with the way they had gone in with physical tackles.A young girl came up as they were talking and asked for my friends signature as the ladies manager,as he was in awe at talking with DL,he told the girl he would sign as long as she asked for DL's signature,he then had to explain why.Bet she is glad she did now.

What a brilliant player, one of the greatest ever, but humble with it. Saw him play many a time together with Bobby Charlton and George Best - absolutely unforgettable.

Like Bobby Charlton he was getting towards the fag end of his career when I got into football. Indeed my earliest memory of him is somewhat negative. I think it must have been around 1968 and he was serving I believe a six week suspension. An older youth on our street said it was for fighting and roundly condemned him, so my initial impression of the Lawman was negative. This must have been either just before or after he missed the European Cup final through injury. I don?t believe he was ever the same player, so his best years were just before my time. He was one of the many players whose greatness I take on trust from others. The other thing is it?s easy to forget there was relatively little film of players then so it wasn?t as easy to make retrospective judgements.
I do vividly recall his famous goal for City against Utd and his lack of celebration which I don?t think I?d ever witnessed before. It was only recently I read that contrary to myth it didn?t actually relegate Utd as they would have gone down anyway. Never knew this until recently.
Law was not only a great player but seemed a great character too. I know he did some television work but thought he would have done more.

Never saw him play other than the old tv clips but enjoyed listening to him on tv and radio through the years. He was like the cricket commentary duo of Micheal Holding and David Lloyd were his enthusiasm, coupled with a distinct lilt to his voice, drew you in to listen.
RIP

I saw him play my Dad
Used to watch Man Utd in 60s
+ early 70s took me a few times
Early 70s
Think he tried
To turn me into a Red
But no way lol
My mind was made up
Even tho Law was
Coming to the end of his Career
His awareness speed was 2nd to None
RIP 'Lawman'

I used to get dragged to watch Sheffield United if Town weren't at home and I saw some great players on that pitch, both Charltons,Terry Payne, Gordon Banks and yes Dennis Law ans all the greats of the Man United side, but I'm pretty sure he played at Saltergate for their reserves. As I said previously a wonderful player and an even better human being RIP.

Did he once play in a charity match (along with George Best) in Clowne?
