Hi all, I am a Blackburn Rovers fan just checking on how you all feel Markanday has done so far whilst on loan to you guys.

I think that the vast majority of Rovers fans were surprised that Dilan was loaned to League 2 rather than League 1 during the summer, and the general feeling was that he would be a stand out at League 2 level. So the general question is, has this been the case? He was always more than a little inconsistent for Rovers, sometimes brilliant in limited sub appearances, but fading when given the opportunity to start off the back of a decent cameo, so I am hoping to hear he has been a little more consistent this past few months.

I have seen recent stories that Leyton Orient are trying to tempt Rovers into loaning him to them for the second half of the season, but according to our local journo, he is more likely to stay where he is until the summer.

His current contract does expire at the end of the season, but Rovers do hold an option to extend that until 2026, which will be triggered either way, although not sure if that will be in order to sell him for a fee, or to reintegrate him into the first team squad.

Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts, thank you in advance, and good luck for the rest of the season.

Just to confirm, I am not the loan manager for Blackburn Rovers, I hold no sway on if he stays with you guys or not ;)

He's been fantastic, no issues with consistency at all. Brilliant on the ball and works hard in the press when we are defending too.

He'd be a big loss for us if he was recalled.

I suppose we can take some hope from this line of the linked article - "It is looking increasingly likely that Dilan Markanday will be allowed to stay on loan at Chesterfield."

Maybe a suitable loan fee will smooth the way..

Absolutely no point in trying him in L1.

We're struggling for bodies so you may as well leave him here...

Fantastic player for us in the first half of the season and would be irreplaceable at L2 level if recalled.

He?s a player I?m sure we?d break the bank to keep, if plausible.

Can anyone think of a better loan signing in the last couple of decades?

He's certainly one of the better ones we've had.

Depends how to qualify better. Someone like Scott Griffiths made a massive contribution to us winning the league under Sheridan for example but probably not in the same league technical ability wise as Markanday.Bit further back the likes of Clingan, O'hara and Hitzelsperger were brilliant players.

Was Craig Davies on loan?

We?ve had a few but I?d suggest Markanday is right up there.

Deane Smalley in the same season as Griffiths was one of the better ones in recentish years.

Yep definitely...just looked him up on Soccerbase and didnt realise he scored so many for us, 12 goals in 23 starts and 6 sub appearances.
