I wish.!! Last time I bought a 1st class stamp it was just over ?1-50 I think, which is outrageous. I live in New Whittington and regularly get our post mid-afternoon. Something has got to give thats for sure,, no surprise the other delivery services are doing well.

Worked as postie a few years ago on a christmas casual job and it was great but they are properly up against it. Posties are working their backsides off in the main to get stuff out. There was a spell as well where they were expected to deliver things all over the country for a lot less than other delivery companies were doing and those other companies for a long time were more than happy to charge customers more than Royal Mail but if it was the back end of somewhere they would use the Royal Mail delivery network to get it to where ever it was going.

As for Amazon plenty of their stuff is delivered via Royal Mail as well as their own drivers plus they also put their own network of delivery drivers that rattle around in their own vans under some ridiculous pressure to deliver stuff to earn a decent wage which explains why stuff is often just launched somewhere in the vicinity of your house, questionable driving and parking etc.

Not entirely true. I?ve got a few mates for do the Amazon gig. The route is pre planned and packages sorted / picked in that same manner. Don?t get me wrong occasionally they might have a long day but more often than not it?s 10-6/7 and about ?160 a day. 25p or so a mile on top.

They charge ?210 per week to hire a van from them which is why most of the drivers do 6 days to cover the loss of day hire essentially working for nothing, to hire the van.

That's the benefit of going to the pub pre Christmas, contact potential card recipients (text) meet at the pub same night and it's potentially a free night out. :D

We can't be certain that our Zetters football pools will be delivered on time, especially if my 10 homes come to.

You put your words the wrong way round….
Seriously, why would this fellow put his money into a failing business currently being vilified in a public inquiry ?
Private Eye will no doubt have the answer.

Today, I shocked the hell out of the postman by opening the door completely naked.

I?m not sure what surprised him most: my nudity, or the fact that I know where he lives.

No doubt to asset strip it, & make a fortune by destroying another British institution & putting thousands out of work. Its been the basis on which our economy has been run since 1979 afterall. That, or getting fat on taxpayers money through government contracts whilst destroying it & putting thousands out of work.
