It'll be well worthwhile, it was a good performance to beat Walsall in the first round

Why are we playing at Alfreton? Surely the FA youth cup games should be played at our home ground.

TthexFA Youth cup matches should be played at the SMH in front of a decent home crowd. I'd much rather see our lads than England elite team playing Germany.

I used to love watching the reserve matches in days gone by Dave. You got to see some first team players who were coming back from injury or loss of form from the likes of Liverpool and Man United for a massive 9d or was it a tanner.

Those were fantastic days in the old Central League and Northern Intermediate leagues. Saw some great top players.

You'd rather Town have ruined its long standing relationship with the English FA on the slim chance that we may have got through to the FA Youth Cup 2nd round, and got a home draw.

I totally disagree with you, but I respect your opinion.

I remember Manchester United playing Willie Morgan, Kirk Fitzspatrick, and I'm not sure if Bill Foulkes played too.

Also suspect we will make a lot more money out of hosting the England game than we would the youth team game. I'm taking my 7yr old daughter to the England game...not a chance she would have gone along to a youth team game. The Youth team game wouldnt draw a crowd half the size of the what will be there tonight i suspect. When i last looked both the West Stand and Kop were pretty much sold.

Plus it?s good to have a relationship with local clubs.

Billy Heath does an unbelievable job at Alfreton and the step they?re at is a great level to test promising youngsters closer to where we are.

We don?t do nearly enough with Alfreton in my opinion but I welcome having a link with them.

We get paid a good wedge by the FA for hosting, get good crowds, keep revenue we make on the concourses and it raises the profile of the club, ground and town to a wider audience

That is 100000% more important then 200 odd folk rattling around the ground for a Youth game

They are played on different dates anyway so no reason why we couldn?t do both but if there?s a choice, it?s England youth every single day

I don't think Dave was saying he'd have preferred the town youth team game to have taken preference over the England game at our ground. Just that he'd prefer to watch town over over England.

Anyway we do seem to be playing alot of these type of games at alfreton, will we be looked on by their supporters with the same disdain as we gave the deedahs for using the B2net over the years.

I wouldn't have thought so. Forest play their youth team games at Alfreton don't they? Or certainly did.

Pretty good game in the end, England win 4-0 and some very good players on show. Lad in net was the lad who played in net for Walsall against us the other week. Germany looked pretty poor but think that was as much to do with the England performance as anything else.
