In the lead up to Christmas every year for the last decade we have placed SpireLights in the Chesterfield FC Memorial Garden.

The SpireLights are electronic candles that bear the name of someone to be remembered.

Each year we commemorate the CFC players lost in the last year along with the great and good in football, society and the local community.

Fans can also suggest names or submit the names of their loved ones. We hope that people will make a donation if they ask for someone's memory to be recognised.

Last year there were almost seventy lights. There were also wreaths and flowers left. Even if you have no one to commemorate it is still worth visiting the Garden in the week before Christmas.

The lights will be out from Monday until next Sunday; it might be worth looking at the Garden after the Wimbledon game.
