Yes, E4 was where the negativity was coming from.
Just before Berry set up the goal he had mouthed to a section - do you want my boots. The episode appeared to proper knock him back.

He did appear to be lazy in that passage of play

I sit in E4 and the frustration was because for the first 10 minutes berry simply jogged around. It was apparent to all of us watching. Yes he did hear something and at one point held his foot up in his hands. I interpreted it as ?I?m slipping around? but could be ?do you want my boots?. He seemed to come on, tried to score with every shot and then played a lovely ball to Drummond who scored. A very good pass, but strange 20 mins from him.

I thought he was going to trip up over his bottom lip. All a little unseemly.

Lets be positive.... we only need another 22pts to secure League Two status next season.

As John Duncan would say let us get to 50 points, avoid relegation, then see where we get to from there.

If we can put a few more points on the board before Christmas we should be in the position to see where we can go to in the New Year.

Exactly what we needed.

An outfit with no plans to pressure us even with our makeshift midfield.

Or was it that we just performed.

Either way they allowed our threatening players one-on-one time and time again.

Markanday, Dobra and Colclough murdered 'em.

Ably supported by a Banks who, perhaps against common consensus, was my MOTM.

Not to detract from a Mandeville who was allowed licence to roam from his holding role. Or a Williams who seemed to stroll so comfortably about his business. Or a Sheckleford at his best.

In fact pick me a Town player not enjoying today.

Three could've been five or six. Including the by now inevitable refereeing blunder. Cook had it spot on when ranting at the man on the middle 'They saw it (gesturing towards the stands), I saw it, why didn't you see it!?!'.

Only positives, though. Drummond's first EFL goal. Hobson bringing his Barnet form. Decisions to allow them game time elsewhere proving the Manager right again.

The last few weeks have been frustrating. It's gonna happen. However history shows Paul Cook knows what he's doing...

You hit the nail on the head.

For me both Coco and Dobra shook us up today. Nice to see Coco score and get reward for all his positive effort going forward and Dobra finally getting a ball when he was ready to pull the trigger.

No point in getting carried away though. I agree Tranmere is a team short on confidence (and ability compared to us individually). I feel for them and their great support given their league position as it looks like they?re on a slippery slope which I hope they can halt.

The difference today (despite the shortcomings of the opposition) was our willingness to get the ball forward quicker. More of the same next week please. Defensively though we had the run of the ball for a change but I wouldn?t say we were sound(er) until JG came on. Going forward both backs had a good game but a bit flattered defensively as Tranmere didn?t offer much of a challenge.

Made up for Drummond. No doubt he?ll have the chance to build on this going forward. Overall a big relief to get 3 points after a dismal run despite our win against Barrow.

PS no doubt it will fuel the debate going forward but I wasn?t very chuffed to hear the manager take absolutely no responsibility for the defeat against MKD in his pre-match interview. The players worked their socks off and got no reward no thanks to him. He just blamed it on his usual glib ? that?s football ? quote, the coaching staff and started with ? Jessop just has to learn ? .
So what does a manager add then when selecting the team ?

Maybe it?s just by chance with how the fixtures have fallen plus the injuries and suspension but we showed a bit more bite today. Carlisle in a similar state to Tranmere so it goes without saying we need to make the most of the weaknesses of our opposition to get a win there too.

PC has bought some time for now but I expect no supporter with any nous to think that it?s the turning point.

Regarding Mandy he has not got the pace to be effective on the right of the 3 behind the striker or as a right back , he has though got superb engine, he could be an absolute asset as a CDM as you just need positional awareness, huge fan I think a naylor Mandy central midfield ticks plenty of boxes

That's how I saw it.
Came on with a face like a smacked ar5e.
2 'kick about' shots at goal and then a peach of a pass to Drummond and the 1000 yard death stare to the crowd.
Livened up a touch after that.

So how much time?

Two seasons?

Three?

Supporters with "nous" realise Cook's the most successful manager Chesterfield FC has ever had. Arguably the best pound-for-pound outside the Prem'.

I'm convinced you are, or have an association with a former manger quite rightly removed from his post to be so maliciously out of step with our fanbase...

Just going to point out that there?s some seriously short memories on display here. Oldaker has been one of our better performers all season and been a constant cog to how our team plays & keeps the ball.

Mandeville did a good job in deputising for him today, and deserves his plaudits, but that doesn?t mean we need to bash Oldaker at the same time.

Cobblers. The reason we?ve not won enough home games has been down to lack of tempo and making us easy to play against. This largely due to Cook picking Oldaker as .playmaker and in the main it?s not worked because he slows everything down. We retain possession but do nowt with it. Today the difference was tempo and looking forward and we?ve battered them. Oldaker to be shipped out in January.

Talking of strange reactions, bit of spat in the East Stand today, small number of fans berating Berry for not chasing after defenders on the ball. James obviously could hear it, bit, and it seemed to upset him somewhat. Not good to see.

They were right. He?s lazy. The lad is believing the hype.

We were in the lounge today so sat just behind Cook, a cpl of times after Berry came on Cook was visibly castigating him for his apparent lack of back tracking.

Pleased Cook was seeing what plenty in the East Stand were seeing close up and being exasperated by. We had 9 putting a shift in, with and without the ball ,and Berry being idle and making no attempt to close down or tackle.

Berry seemed almost in awe when first arriving at CFC.

Times many he'd be looking up at the well populated stands with that kinda look on his face.

Like the lad lots. There's a direct nature to his game that gets bums off seats. But he must become more than a twenty minute man before even thinking of getting an ego...

I was about to post exactly the same comment. I would like to see a combo of Tom Naylor and Mandy on a longer term basis. Both know how to put in a good tackle and both do superb passes. We could just have stumbled across a perfect pairing. As others have said Oldaker slows the game down and is prone to giving the ball away.

My daughter?s fave player and a lad with so much potential to go on and have a very decent career in the game.
I actually said to my son today that his warm up before the game was the most half hearted I?d seen! I know he was in the bench, but the other subs were putting it in, so I?m not having that as an excuse before someone tries to mention it ;)

I am not in to this getting on at one particular player during any match whoever he may be. James Berry has come a long way since we signed him and still has a lot to learn. What he needs to do out of possession is up to our coaching team to guide him not the fans in any particular stand. Yesterday, I heard one of them shout and tell him to chase the ball in the middle of the park then after he had moved in that direction blamed him for being out of position when the ball was switched by their defender to our left. Berry has a very languid style but he cannot be expected to burst into draw dropping attacking mode every time he gets the ball. Maybe expectation has got too high but even though there were moans in the stands he still managed a number of shots which had their keeper concerned.

I know you?ve referenced home games there, but was there a lack of intensity when we pumped Crewe & Morecambe for 5, and Donny & Newport for 3?
Guess who played in all 4 of those games.

Can?t really judge on the one game yesterday but there was far more intensity, more forward passes and Mandy brought more energy.

Not sure the relevance of picking out the 4 away games but?

Morecambe - shocking first half and the subs changed the game
Newport - again subs changed the game but not a convincing performance
Donny - we played against 10men for about 40mins!
Crewe - great performance

IMHO DJ is ok for cover in CM but isn?t in our best 11. As it was his second red is it more than a one match ban?
