I don't disagree with the vast majority of that and I've been frustrated plenty of times with our performances in terms of dodgy defending etc. but I don't think the shocking refereeing decisions we've been on the end of this season can easily be waved away. I'd be interested to know how many apologies other teams in this league have received from the refereeing body to compare. I haven't been a serial ref moaner in previous seasons, but this one is something else. No point pretending that refs only have minimal impact to football matches and no point pretending that their poor performances don't stitch certain teams up more than others at times (again, not purposely done). To pretend these things aren't impacting is to deny reality.

In terms of Cook, yep I'm sure he isn't viewed favourably but when you are frequently seeing your team on the end of awful decisions then I think it's human nature to moan, unrealistic to expect otherwise.

I'm not waving them away. I just don't think they're the root cause of our frustrating run of form. But they are, I agree, contributory.

As unrealistic as you think it is for managers not to rant on the touchline, i'd point out it is equally unrealistic to not anticipate that the referees might not give us the rub of the green as a result. Also, we spend a lot of time getting bullied off the ball both fairly and unfairly because of our lack of physicality and we are dominated in that sense in almost every game. So it stands to reason we'll often feel somewhat hard done by as we're more often on the 'receiving end' and therefore our manager who very much believes in 'the beautiful game' is considerably more ranty than others, who it might be argued are more savvy/cynical/practical. Doesn't help we've got the likes of Dobra chucking himself on the floor like a ballerina every 5 mins either. Tends to make refs cautious.

But on the whole I still think we can make play offs when we get the likes of Dunkley/Gordon & co back.

Initially PC is pleasant and joky with officials which remains until usually the 1st goalkick when the lack game management is obvious, clearly disrupting his style of play and nothing been done, throw in a couple of obviously shocking decisions PC sees a weeks work going down the pan by someone's elses inability.
Game changing decisions are exactly what it says. eg we score the none pen v accy we win, players confidence/adrenaline is different.
I'll be controversial, talking crap maybe, but I have an element of concern that PC has been 'set up' by officials, ie manufacture a poor decision when he's already'wound up' bang there's a yellow. He was yellowed v (??) when Matt the magpie Corlett was 4th offical which looked very dodgy.

PC is very passionate and only rants at officials when justified (from my close observations) long may be. In an ideal world he wouldn't have to rant at all.

To be fair though, unless he made other errors not shown on highlights, he wasn't sussed in this game.

In the sending off incident he received the ball from Thompson and broke the block despite being fouled, creating the chance for Mandeville.
In the booking incident it's arguable that he broke the block but was fouled and lost the ball, before preventing their man progressing.

So, imo, on this occasion he should be criticised not for his football style but for his dissent.

I've got it down as gobbing off at the ref for both yellow cards. Surely for the first one no ref would have produced a card for the foul, which should have gone the other way if anything. The second was just plain stupidity. My point is that he's being far less effective the last few games, and it's getting him frustrated. Losing his rag with the ref is a sign of this.
To make a mark in this division he's going to have to speed up and be much more positive. He won't be given the time to fiddle about with the ball and choose his pass.

I?ve not seen the footage again but apparently while the ref was waving play on for the mandeville chance, DJ was waving an imaginary card while mouthing at the ref, which is a mandatory booking offence.

Whether the first yellow was justified or not, he was on a yellow and committed a silly bookable offence.

No conspiracy, no bias, just plain daft and very costly.

You could be right I don't recall seeing it though and the highlights doesn't reflect it even though DJ is out of shot as the camera followed the ball. However the ref would have been following the ball so would have his back to DJ so wouldn't see it. However the ref should have realised JD was aggrieved and defused his anger by telling DJ he'd caution the original fouler after the advantage a simple "I'll sort him" would have sufficed. Crap game management at our cost.

Teams are going to try and break up his style of play. By whatever means they can.

Instead of losing his rag he needs to figure out how to counter it. A good start would be bringing in options that allow us to do that and adopting different tactical approaches where necessary.

In his ideal world his team might be able to play the easy on the eye football without being physically bullied, or without teams using the 'dark arts' to break up play to their own advantage. But that's his ideal. Other managers will have an entirely different concept of ideal. And the more they see it works, the more we'll face it.

100% I?m his biggest hater cause I know a bad player when I see one. To keep starting him is unforgivable

Just thinking about what a week my mate, Dobra has had. A goal against Tranmere last Saturday, another goal in the week against Wigan and a MOTM award yesterday against Carlisle.

You know a player alright!

It's interesting that for all the plaudits Mandeville has been given since moving central following Oldakers suspension (and rightly so), Dobra has thrived also in the middle of the 4 behind and on occasions yesterday was deeper than both Mandy and Banks. His tracking back has been excellent and has the engine to run box to box, could still do with spending less time on the deck mind

Yes seems to have been rejuvenated this last couple of weeks regarding the defensive side of his play.

Watching the highlights when Grigg scores the ref runs into the action indicating he has played an advantage, does that mean if Grigg had missed, would he have brought play back and awarded us a pen or maybe a free kick outside the box whichever it means Dobs didn't go to ground easily this time

The first time I saw Dobra,I thought, wow, there's a player who'll excite and go onto bigger and better things eventually.

Your point regarding Mandy's inclusion in the starting 11 is not wasted on me.

When we were up against it a few weeks ago and struggling for a bit of consistency, I said that Cookie needed his most consistent performers in the starting 11 and Mandy's certainly one of them. He's one of the first names on the teamsheet as far as I'm concerned.

Injuries allowing, I hope we see the same starting 11 next week.
