There must be some tiny substance to this, hopefully a couple more clubs come sniffing.

Berry seems to me the sort of player that Brentford or Brighton would pick up for scraps and sell on for 30-40 million in a few seasons time.

Don?t give him away please !

Possibly agents testing the water by getting stories in the media.A bidding war can only be good for Berry and Chesterfield and if the right deal is done for both club and player I would wish him all the best

Nah not having this...yes on his day he has moments where he is very good and scares the lives out of teams but there is a lack of consistency and its not like he's 17/18/19 that they will take a punt on and likely flog him on down the line if it doesnt work a bit like Villa did with Bowery years ago. At 23 and for ?5m this is someone that needs to go in and be around the first team straight away...not convinced he's that. Its a massive jump to that level from League 2.

Agreed, whenever he comes up against a better defence, ie derby and then exeter on satdi, he's found out, no way would he take the jump to the prem in his stride.

Well, Eze apparently wants away from Palace, and has a ?68M release clause.
Plenty of change out of a fee like that for a punt on a lower league player.
But, yes 5M seems out of the question, although I bet his reels look incredibly good.

Although in the real world 5 million is mega bucks, in the football world (especially the Premiership) it's peanuts.
In a world where the likes of Man City sign a bit part player in Grealish for ?100m and other players are valued at even more, a world in where 100k a week is the norm and 350k a week is batted about, then why not.
It would be a win-win on all parties, especially us.

He isn?t even a 90 minute man yet , yes he can finish but he is anything but a million pound player, potential but would not get 1 minute in the prem

He seems like a player someone would take a punt on, loan him out to someone like a Millwall, Charlton type club, net a few and they sell him on for profit, bit like Cole Palmer.

There is daft money in football and whatever we think about whether he may or may not make it Premier League wise, we don?t give him away like we did with Davies to Southampton.

Well if they want that kind of money for him I think we can assume he won't be going to Rotherham.

Surely he has to start ripping up this league first, he is a talent but it?s a 30 minute one at present

He can score amazing goals and sometimes more than one in a game, but the next game he seems anonymous. It's pot luck at present with what you're going to get from him. I do like to see him on the pitch at some point in every game though as he can create scintillating moments.

Doesn't always work that way. If a club thinks there's summat there, they won't necessarily sit around and wait for him to get better and attract more attention which could lead to a bidding war, I'd say they're more likely to snap him up now so they can get him to take advantage of their superior coaching/facilities.

Not that I think there's any legs in this whatsoever and certainly not at that figure.

That really isn't what happened with Cole Palmer at all.

We do have some proper business people running the club for the first time in history now though, so maybe they won't give our prized assets away on the cheap any more

Hopefully we don't come across a mungo type character betwean now and the transfer date. Perhaps time for cotton wool.
