Clearly a disappointing result and performance but probably even more disappointing is the growing injury list.

We need to scrape through to January with what we have. Now Tanton is injured once again will Sheckleford be added to our squad list before the MK game as we certainly seem short in that area?

According to DW, prior to today?s game, all our injured players could/should be available by the New Year but we could be seriously short up top if Madden is now unavailable. So, could Drummond be recalled? Similarly, Hobson?

The January window could become quite interesting as a number of players whose contracts run out at the end of this season could be encouraged to move out if they can land longer term contracts at other clubs thus providing space to bring in perceived upgrades. We are a squad in transition so changes in the squad are going to happen and I certainly expect at least one more option for the CF role.

I am confident that Cook knows his targets but whether he can land them or not remains to be seen.

tanton is a real blow as i think he is an excellent right back at our current level and suits the style of play, is VDC injured? if so i guess you may be right with shecks. don't know about the recalls on loanees, asked the same question myself, thing with january is, generally it tends to be more movement at the end of the month, so the "get to january" idea is never quite the point in time we all want it to be. I think there will be targets for sure, getting them is a different story.

Disappointed we got knocked out the cup but I agree the real disappointment is the growing injury and what has to be acknowledged is an associated drop off in form.

Unlike many I haven't given up on promotion nor am I now stating mid table was our aim all along. If we can hang on to the pack over the next month or so we still have a decent chance. For sure we need a change of fortune regarding injuries and no new ones.

I can also see big changes in January enforced or otherwise. Given that we swapped out half the team in the summer or at least tried, that is a bit more than evolution of a squad.

On bolstering the squad up to Christmas, I know we have a couple of spare slots but can we remove some of the longer term injured from the list to allow more of those out on loan or returning form injury back in?

Good old cook ball. Have all the possession, pad the ball about and do nothing with it. Sadly he's been well and truly found out this season.

We?re 8th in the division after 6 seasons of non league

You are an idiot

Agree. We would be bottom 4 easily in League 1 with this squad. Little quality in key areas, once injuries bite. Move on the deadwood and bring in players to make us better not fill spaces.

Another blimey idiot

We aren?t in league one, we?re in league two and are just below the play offs

I'd like to see what percentage of the people now say consolidation would be a success were saying playoffs are minimum in the summer. I suspect there would be a few embarrassing faces

Id be happy to stay up after 6 seasons in the doldrums

To be fair I?ve always thought top half finish would be good, play offs would be great and anything better would be amazing

This season is about consolidation, follow the Stockport model

I?m surprised people are this shocked we?ve lost. Exeter are a league above us, we are plagued by injuries (3 more today in Jacobs, Madden and Naylor).

I expected us to lose today.

I thought we?d probably lose, as would any sane person when going away to a team from the division above

Not the end of the world and some of the reactions are ridiculous

Not watched any of it live or listened to any of it but from the highlights, their second was an in-play mistake from Oldaker which can happen but their first was nothing short of criminal.

That has got to be as poor as you could see defending a corner with the lad having the run of the manor at the back post.

Well not quite true as most injuries are extrinsic and caused by impact etc (ie during a game)

Yeah but playing regularly won?t make people less likely to injuries? As long as they?re training correctly etc? Correct?

ITheir first was a replica of our goal v Barrow. Perhaps we gave their analysts an idea. Pity our defenders didnt think to learn from it.

So to summise.

An injury limited Town side went to a division higher outfit and lost after one of the inconsistent, goal gifting performances that punctuate our seasons.

Irritating, especially under the circumstances, but understandable. In fact we've probably been spoiled by recent cup exploits.

Either way back to a league campaign where we're doing okay with more to come. And certainly no need for anyone to chuck themselves off the Spire...
